Hookup Conventional Water Heater to RV

I am living in my 2006 Sandpiper 31 foot Bumper Pull model. My water heater sprung a leak and needs to be replaced. I would like to hook up my RV to a conventional water heater while I am living in the RV. I was trying to figure out how to do it. Have an idea of putting a thru-wall connector on the the front wall of the RV, with a shut-off valve of sorts. Then, if I want to go camping, I would disconnect the conventional and use the on-board unit. Any one done anything like this? Could use your input.

Appreciatively,

My suggestion is look on eBay for an exterior shower box and install that
Then you can hook the exterior water heater to that, and still easily disconnect and move the camper.
Good Luck, Mike
