Cut a thin piece on a table saw from a 2x4 that will fit into the cut snugly. Glue it in and trim with a sharp chisel when dry. Wahlah, fixed and just as strong.
I just used some shims that i used for my home renovation project that were thin enough on the tip to jam into the cut seam with some epoxy and then put more epoxy on the outer visible seam to make sure that it wasn't going to go anywhere. All is good now
