How would you permanently attach.....

a 3/4" x 4" x 5' board to a wall? These RV walls are fairly thin so conventional household fastners won't work...debating using construction glue but don't know how well it'll stick to the wall paper....suggestions...thanks

You find the studs and run the screws into them. They should be 16"oc,but for some strange reason mine are 14"oc.

Coat rack?

These are good up to 5 pounds each, we hang towels off them.

If you can't find one of the studs, use a hollow wall anchor.

I like the hollow wall anchors over the molly bolts. Your wall is very thin so make sure you buy the ones for a thin wall and not a thick wall.

You can see how these work in the photo.

Pre-drill a hole that is slightly small, press the anchor in and then tighten the screw to expand the feet grippers.

Horizontally or vertically? Must it be in a specific location (it matters more if your installation is vertical)?

Thanks for the replies...looks like the Molly's are the way to go......no comments back on using construction glue.....

Couldn't really describe what I wanted to do so tried my hand with "SketchUp" to illustrate the task. Our pantry have these shelves (actually 3 ea) with no way to keep things from falling off during travel...at the time we were rushed and using Command Hooks....placed a few on the walls and under the shelves and then stretched a cargo net over all the shelving...got it at HF for $25...worked really well but when applying pressure, the hooks started popping off....we therefore want to attach a sturdier hook(s) which is why i need to attach the boards.

I realize there are other ways to secure the shelf items but we really liked the net...with the amount of elasticity you can actually pull items thru the net if needed without taking the net down plus it doesn't take up hardly any storage space.

Mollys are too long for the walls. The walls are not thick enough to take the length of the molly even if they are for thin walls.

Better to use threaded inserts.

Why not screw your hooks directly into the bottom side of the shelf above each. Small cup hooks should be more than adequate. Loading would be more in shear also.
Not penetrating the walls is a much better move.

You could use adhesive if you cant find the studs. I would use construction grade liquid nails. It will not let go of anything. I have seen 2x6s glued together with this and then have them hold 300lb equipment on sites. It would pull your paneling off before giving way.

Thats exactly what I did with the Command hooks and what I'll do with this setup but where would the hooks go to hold back the stuff on the uppermost shelf?

ID:	95880i used construction glue when I mounted the coat rack in the garage of our XLR and has worked great. I just put some one the back and then put a few short pin/nails in them to hold until the adhesive dried and then screwed the coat rack on with screws long enough to go through the maple board and in to the wall.

The problem with const. adhesive is you are applying it to a wall covering applied to thin plywood. The wall covering can and will peel off. Look for an expanding anchor at hardware dept.

I have used these pop toggles both at home and in my travel trailer. I like that it doesn't depend upon crushing the inside against the wall in order to be ready for the screw.

I use them mostly to hang wall track for shelving. In the TT I put one in every mounting hole.
