I put a Honeywell on mine, too. As posted earlier, it must be battery powered, and also a SINGLE STAGE heat pump/A/C thermostat. I wired mine to high, as well. I read where the low speed is not good on the unit, and my Coleman pop up used to freeze the coils on low. Then you must shut it off to thaw out! Randy

Was this thermostat replacing a digital dometic? Mine only has 3 wires and I want to replace it.

I don't think you can do a straight swap with the 3 wire digital dometic thermostat.

That is correct. The digital thermostat from the factory uses a different control circuit board on the ceiling control board assembly, under the cover and filter. You can call Dometic/ Duo therm, and they can tell you what you need for your application. I just changed my control board, it went bad, Randy

I did this mod as well......and actually put a spin on it as well.
I boondock in cold weather(under 45 degrees) and this thermostat only goes down to 60 degrees. I don't want the furnace running all night and killing the batteries. I altered the thermostat so that it really ignores the ambient temp and turns on and off based on time. I can have the furnace kick on at 6am and make the camper toasty warm without getting out of bed and flipping it on. I bought two of these so. Once so I can use in colder weather and and one to use the rest of the time.
