I have a problem that needs a mod I believe.

Okay so here is my problem... I have a 2012 Cherokee grey wolf 28bh and I pull it with a 2004 ford expedition and I use the equalizer brand hitch. When hooked up I can't completely open my lift gate. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Someone on another post said you can turn the jack head around to the rear. I don't know if you really can, but it's worth a look see.

You can turn the head around should be just the 3 bolts at the frame. Don't look like ull have the room due to propane so maybe just turn it to a side.

Yep, live with it.
You can't rotate the jack head 90° because the part where the gears and motor are isn't square. You can't rebolt the jack 120° using the existing holes because the propane tanks are in the way. You can't drill holes to rotate the whole assembly 90° unless you drill into the A-frame because the mounting plate is triangular (3 bolts). If you use a drawbar extender, that moves the load further from the rear axle creating more effort and leverage on the WDH.
Good luck.

I pull a grey wolf 29dsbs with an expedition as well. Best solution I found was to just open the rear glass instead of the whole hatch.

Try turning the jack sideways. We installed one on our old tt when we had an armada. It worked well sideways. To change it out simply hook up and then remove and reinstall the jack.

Take the jack off and take it to a welding shop and have it rotated 90°.

Here in Kentucky we would just take a sawzall to the hatch! Easy mod.

The only thing I would worry about if you just turn it 1 bolt at the frame is if it don't have a swivel wheel and it has a foot the stability might be off. U could redial the foot hole to fix that though.

Have a welding shop cut the triangular plate off and re-weld it so the jack is rotated 90°.

Load before you hitch. Unhitch before you unload. I have the exact same problem.

Camping World has a unit called Jack-E-Up that allows you to remove the jack. Google their Web site. Showed a kit for the round base plate on a electric jack.

The same issue with my truck tailgate. Only solution I had was move the jack back, used a piece of 1/4" thick 5" wide C channel, welded it in... can open tailgate with no issues now. Looked at all the other options and none would give me enough to drop the tailgate.

Lil2low - have you ever had a flat on your expedition while towing your tt? I have and that's part of my reason for wanting a hatch that will fully open without unhooking.
