We tried leaving space and it worked! Traveled some rough road also. Chairs never moved. Must be very good suspension systems in these trailers!

I cut a foam swim tube or water pipe insulation tube to about 5" long, cut a slit down the side and slip one over the edge of the top of the chair. They stay in place and remove easy to store when you park. If you use the water pipe tube they have a glue strip to hold them closed on a pipe. When you slit the tube cut trim the slot to remove the glue side when you slit it.
