Installing remote dump valve

Bad design for the kitchen gray tank dump valve. I know Nigel's D/W and mine are destroying their fingernails having to crawl under the 8285WS to open the gray tank dump valve. (At least that is what Nigel said). So I thought it over and came up with a easy way to open the dump valve.

For you TT & fifth wheel owners here is a blow by blow fix if you have two gray tanks and one has the dump valve located under the BUMP-OUT.

I order the remote assembly by VALTERRA # TC-372, 3" assembly off Amazon.com (About $68.00)

#1 Picture is information
#2 Picture is MODEL & size
#3 Picture is contents, valve, new seals, remote cable, nuts & bolts,
mounting bracket,
#4 Picture is detailed instructions
#5 Removal of existing dump valve (Held in place by four bolts)
MAKE SURE YOU DRAIN THE TANK BEFORE REMOVING VALVE !
#6 New plastic information plates.
#7 New dump valve installed, I lubricated the seals with lithium grease
before installing valve.
#8 New valve remote cable bracket installed just behind the bump-out.
The bracket comes as one straight piece with several holes and large
hole for the cable housing. I had 2 1/2" cut from the bracket and
welded to the frame mount portion (bracket is made of aluminum)
I used stainless self tapping screws 2" long to mount to the frame
of the 8285WS. There is a 3/4" thick by 2" wide piece of wood
mounted to the bottom of the frame that all the siding is mounted
to that you have to drill through to mount the bracket.
#9 Is the finished job of installing the remote dump valve for the kitchen
gray tank.
#10 Is my "ROCKY" ready to go on the next venture!

Continue of dump valve pictures

Cable was routed to the rear of the bump-out for installation and secured with nylon tye-wraps.

Sid, I also have the 8285WS and this is my solution to the galley drain valve problem. I used an old mop handle and a screw eye. Now I can reach the drain valve when the slide is open from the rear of the slide.

Looks like a simple solution !

Well Jimcam22, looks like a simple solution. Too late for your application.
But I will keep it in mind.

I am so getting one of those for my black tank for this upcoming winter... having to pull the siding board and move snow to dump the black valve sucks!!

Edit: found a 72" one on ebay. now to find out if i can get it shipped via courier because of the postal strike..

Seems like a perfectly good reason to run down to Noonan.
