Don't think it would be too hard, just expensive.

I've had a class A coach and a 5th wheel with expensive electric awnings. Now I have a toy hauling trailer with a manual awning by choice. The electric awnings are too sensitive and can be damaged to easily if the wind picks up. I always had to retract the electric awnings when we left the RV.
When it was pouring rain and windy, (when you needed the awning the most) the awning had to be retracted because the electric awning was too flimsy to be out in windy weather.
At one point I was considering buying a new class A diesel and I even called Tiffon motorhomes and spoke to the owner about ordering a new class A without the damn electric awning.

With the tie down poles, the power awnings perform just like the manuals except for the hassle of stowing. The power ones are much easier.
Until I put the poles on, I agree with your assessment entirely about the power awnings.

x2 on using a support pole/tie down sys on the elect awning. I do it and have left mine up in downpours/35mph winds etc. The thing I do in addition to the support pole/tie down is I bought the awnbrellas from CW to support the awning fabris it's self.
