Jack knife couch replacement

I had all that I could handle with that jack knife couch, it had to go. Replaced it with a couple of IKEA chairs, now I can sit and enjoy a good meal, chat or even a movie.

Thanks everyone

Much better for napping Yes, it's a Freedom Express 248RBS. It's been a great camper so far.

We have been looking at the 246RKS and the 248RBS, that is why the picture looked familiar. For me at least, just sitting in the sofa for a few minutes, it seemed really comfortable in both units. If I may ask, what we’re your objections to the sofa? Also, off topic, have you run into problems with limited counter space? Jay

Jackknift couch

When we first tried the couch, it felt ok to us also. But after about 10 minutes of sitting on it, get becomes uncomfortable to us. It doesn't recline or have a foot rest. Maybe it sits too straight up, not sure. As for then you use it as a bed, it is to short for anyone over about 4' and you can only really lay on one side of it. The back half of it is no good because of the center arm rest and the seam down the middle.
Now for the counter space or lack of it. I made a shoe rack that sit's at the end of the counter by the door which lets me add a small shelf that I made from the sink cover. Plus we have the cutting board the sits over the stove and we can pull the dinning room table over too help out.
It's a game of give and take.

Horrid couch

Are the IKEA chairs fastened to the floor? I wonder if they would fit in our 2109S Mini Lite. I hate that couch!

IKEA chairs

No, they are not secured to the floor. They sit sideways behind my slide when traveling. I made small wooden spacers that lay on the floor between the walls and the other chair while on the road. Once I open the slide, I remove the spacers and turn the chairs around. I was worried about them moving while driving but after three trips, they have never moved a bit. They are also light enough that I can take them outside very easily should I need the extra seating.

Thanks for the info. When we uncover the trailer in spring, we'll do some measuring and go to IKEA.

Try a futon, it’s worked for us.

Bagger, I really like your counter space work around. One of our goals was to find a place for a trash can. Now I am going to have a look at IKEA also. Jay
