WHAT a GREAT idea!
Now for a trip to the junk yard!
I notice they bent your forward bolt when they installed your steps too.

That's likely a LOT cheaper than the purpose-made step supports. They're $20 a piece and you need 2 per stairs to be most effective.

Have had that on both our Flagstaffs on both bolts and ended up taking the steps off and slotting the holes so the bolts are straight. None of the 4 were bent, just at an angle. From what I've seen on campers on the dealers lot, it is quite common.

Hmm since nearly all of the rivets have sheared on our stairs and been replaced with grade 8 bolts, I think when I replace the steps I will slot them as well.

Replacing the rivets with gr 8 bolts & nylock nuts was the very 1st mod I did the same day we brought it home. How stupid can the step mfgr be? Just asking for a lawsuit.

First time one broke it nearly killed me; glad it was me and not the DW. When I looked, several more had shown failure marks.

I had to take (Both) step assys. off when New,slotted the mounting holes as far as they would go,still (That) angled after assy. The only other opp.was (Remove) both doors and make special plates too move the step bolts over to the proper location. They are NOT right but a Lot better than original. Youroo!!

Try taking the step off, cut a 1" wide section out with the slotted hole and down the side about 1-1/2" so you have a "U" cutout, make a new flat plate with a hole in the correct position on the steps and weld it back together. That way if the bolt ends up in the middle of the vertical side of the step, you have wrench clearance. Lot easier than taking doors/frames off.
