As an alternative, I had a cutting board made and cut to fit in one side of the sink. You could buy a cutting board large enough and cut down to size using the sink cover as the template...allows you to chop and cook.

That is a really nice solution as well, the idea behind covering the stove however is to make that a usable space when not in being used as a stove. Hrmm.. Can you make the same on that fits the stove slide double as a sink cover as well... Hrmmmm
