L-bars welded to frame for skid wheels????

Hi, my wife and I purchased a 2012 Rockwood 2702SS about a month ago. Used it a few times and love everything about it! We have a steep drive though, and have used skid wheels in the past with no problems, on a Kiwi 23B and SP-295, I've been VERY careful.

I was underneath the 2702SS and noticed an L Bar (on both sides) welded to the frame, about two feet in from the bumper and a foot long. The bar had maybe 10 holes randomly drilled in it. There is nothing attached to these bars, other than that they are welded to the frame. I’m wondering if these bars are not intended for skid wheels. I’m assuming these might be on other models as well…

Does anyone know? Its not a huge deal for us for the typical packing, and I was thinking about not using them again. But it would be nice for maintenance, winterizing and the such.

Thank you,
Chuck Roessler
