Ladder/ Bunk Mod

Seems like a simple fix, but my Rockwood 2504S TT did not come with hooks at the end of my son's bunk ladder.

As is, the ladder can slide right off, taking him with it.

Any suggestions or easy fix ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Ariel

Teach him how to tuck & roll??

How about rubber anti-skid pads on the ladder where it meets the bunk?

We have plans for children (but apparently children don't have plans for us, lol), so we bought a trailer with bunks, and so happened to purchase a 2504S. We have never used the bunks, but also noticed that there isn't anything to keep the ladder in place. One thought that I had was to tether the bottom of the ladder to the base of the cabinet under the bottom bunk. You could attach an eye bolt, and then attach a tether to each of the "feet" (creating sort of a triangle from each foot to the base of the cabinet). Then use a carabineer to quickly connect/disconnect the tether. Your tether options are whatever you decided you want to use. Obviously looks play a role, or maybe for you functionality trumps looks, personal preference I suppose. Could be a light weight chain, or rope, or create your own out of braided wire that has the plastic sheath around it... It wont keep the top of the ladder attached to the bunk, but I figure if the bottom cant "slide out" from underneath, you wont need to worry about the top. Just a suggestion

I had the same ladder and also notice the ladder was pretty flimsy. I bought a 60" metal ladder with metal hooks. It can be used up to 10 degrees so it was too long (typical for these ladders) but tubing cutters fixed that in 10 minutes. I sleep in the upper bunk so I can actually get a good night's sleep and feel a lot safer using the new ladder.

Bunk bed ladder hooks can be found online, home improvement stores and some hardware stores.

First time I've done a link like this on my phone. I hope it works ok. The OP of the thread shows his solution. I copied it, and it works great.

Seems like whatever you do, the ladder needs to be able to stay in place, yet rotate up somehow so the bottom bunk kid can get out in the middle of the night if need be.
