Lazy Man Remote Awning mod
This thread originated by Turbs deserves to be revived! Don't know how I ever missed it, but it is freaking awesome!! Just when you thought there was nothing more you could ever even dream of doing to your rig.. "there's your sign!"
Lazy Man's Power Awning Mod
Links to the remote control switch in the original thread are no longer valid, however, here's a new link for the identical unit. $20.50 free shipping.
12V DC 2-POLE reversible MOMENTARY relay contact remote control switch RM66
Just purchased one myself and will update when it's finished, but anything you ever needed to know is in the original thread... including wiring diagrams.
~ Cheers

Did this mod but used the RM03M controller. It's smaller, 6 amp rating (used 2 DPDT relays), comes with 2 remotes and wire leads are larger gage. Just slightly more cost. Works just as the RM60 installed mod. I like it. Thanks.

Saw the original mod and the remotes were sold out. Thanks for finding them again. Only 6 left now. :-)

Just curious. Did you install a manual/remote switch? If so, what did you end up using?

Yes, installed a switch to disconnect the remote function. Just used a similar rocker switch like current switches.

This here is what the company said was the replacement for the RM66. I had the repair hook up my battery backwards, and they blew this one out, so I have the new one coming tomorrow and I will put it in. It is a RM800 and it is supposed to be new and improved, it also comes with 2 remotes. Here is what they said in the email "Dear syencer,
hi, we are moving to a upgrade version of this RM66 and the new version is RM800, which has a higher amp rated relays, a limit switch for protecting runaway motor and a protection in case the power polarity is reversed or shorted.
here is the item number: 351291921032, check it out, if you have any question, let me know,
regards

So here is the link to the item. It looks like everything is built in this one.

Update, I installed my new RM800 relay switch today, and I think it works awesome, You can program it to open fully, close fully by using the limit switches and 1 push of the button, or you can just program it momentary to where it only opens or closes while you are holding the button down, it also let me program the remote that was with the RM66 so now I have 3 remotes, they all work.
