Busy Friday

The weather was great and I was stoked. A deadly combination.

Remote Awning in and working, flagpole and level mounted on pin box and Freshwater tank sanitized and flushed. As I was cleaning up the UPS guy dropped off the Landing Gear Braces, so I put them on too.

It's Miller Time. (If I drank Miller, which I don't) Yuengling for me if its a beer or a nice dry red.

Are you not worried about drilling holes in the pinbox voiding the warranty? Just asking, I have refrained from that and have tried using whatever holes are already in it.

Warranty long dead now.

The Lippert Pin box is rated at 15,500 pounds and my 5th wheel weighs under 9,000 in any case.

I got thinking about it, you could use the RL44 relays, but you will need 4 of them to make the modification to the Remote Module (a bit more complicated).

The terminals on the RL44 relay are identified as follows:
Terminal 85 - Relay Coil Negative (DC-) Connection
Terminal 86 - Relay Coil Positive (DC+) Connection
Terminal 87 - Relay Normally Open (NO) Connection
Terminal 30 - Relay Common (or Armature) Connection

- First, separate the Relays into 2 Groups of 2 Relays, label the Groups A
and B, and label the Relays in each group 1 and 2.

- Next, connect a Black wire to Terminal 85 on all the Relays, and to the
Black wire on the Remote Module.

- In Group A, connect the Yellow wire from the Remote Module to Terminal
86 on both Relays.
- In Group B, connect the Blue wire from the Remote Module to Terminal
86 on both Relays.

- On Relay 1 of both Group A and B, connect a Red wire to Terminal 87,
and to the Red wire on the Remote Module.
- On Relay 2 of both Group A and B, connect a Black wire to Terminal 87.

- On Relay 1 of Group A and Relay 2 of Group B, connect a White (or your
color choice) wire to Terminal 30.
- On Relay 2 of Group A and Relay 1 of Group B, connect a Brown (or your
color choice) wire to Terminal 30.

- Finally:
- Connect all the Red wires to the DC+ Terminal on the Awning Manual
Switch (on my unit, this was the right center terminal (looking at the
back of the switch - you should check this with a meter) on the
switch.
- Connect all the Black wires to the DC- Terminal on the Awning Manual
Switch (the other center terminal).
- Connect both White wires to one of the top (or bottom) Terminal of
the Awning Manual Switch.
- Connect both Brown wires to the other top (or bottom) Terminal of
the Awning Manual Switch.

Notes:
- The best way to connect the wires to the Terminals on the Relays is
using crimp-type push-on connectors.
- To reduce the number of wires, jumpers from one terminal to another
is best (i.e., two black wires will be on terminal 85, one from the
proceeding Relay, the other to the next Relay).

To Summarize:
- Group A, Relay 1:
Terminal 85 - Black Wire (DC-)
Terminal 86 - Yellow Wire (Switched DC+) from the Remote Module
Terminal 87 - Red Wire (DC+)
Terminal 30 - White Wire (DC+ Output)
- Group A, Relay 2:
Terminal 85 - Black Wire (DC-)
Terminal 86 - Yellow Wire (Switched DC+) from the Remote Module
Terminal 87 - Black Wire (DC-)
Terminal 30 - Brown Wire (DC- Output)
- Group B, Relay 1:
Terminal 85 - Black Wire (DC-)
Terminal 86 - Blue Wire (Switched DC+) from the Remote Module
Terminal 87 - Red Wire (DC+)
Terminal 30 - Brown Wire (DC+ Output)
- Group B, Relay 2:
Terminal 85 - Black Wire (DC-)
Terminal 86 - Blue Wire (Switched DC+) from the Remote Module
Terminal 87 - White Wire (DC-)
Terminal 30 - White Wire (DC- Output)
- All Red Wires - To DC+
- All Black Wires - To DC-
- All White Wires - To one side of the Awning Motor
- All Brown Wires - To other side of the Awning Motor

Just depended on which wire went where. Since I had no idea which went where, I did not sticker the remote until I checked it out.

got mine installed today. I did blow 3 fuses until I realized I had switched the power lines to the switches instead of switching the lines to the awning.

Mine came in friday, now just to find some time left over in the time bank to work on it as I have my main tractor down for a head gasket and 3 others I have 3 weeks to get back running as well as a hedge trimmer and Honda lawn mower. Then I need to be in the fields reseeding them and on and on. Geeze why are days only 24 hrs long, I get up at 4 and am at work by 5:30, home at 3 and working till dark and still don't have time to do anything.

Since the switch inside our TT is "down and out" "up and in" for our awning, we made the remote the same way....."down and out." Easy to remember.
