Herk, it's easier to leave the key fob in the trailer and just use it when you go outside. LOL

I put a kill switch on the landing gear rocker switch as well. Keeps curious fingers from running the landing gear (and bending my rear stabilizers) and also adds a small level of theft protection. Hard to hook up to the camper if you can't raise or lower the gear.
I will be putting a kill switch in the 12VDC power line just as a safeguard. Hate for someones garage door opener to run my awning out.

And spend more time turning on all the switches to enable the switches to power rear jacks, front jacks, awning, lights, etc.

Sometimes I chuckle or talk to myself when reading the forums, and my wife will ask, "who said what"?
Great information f1100turbo, we do not have a powered awning, but I see there are a number of switch configurations that could be used to control just about anything in an rv. Maybe shut off the water pump from the campfire when the kids are using to much water or the lights.

tons of options with this unit or others I saw !
One company had a 6 channel remote for 40 bucks!
Im thinking hmmmmm
water pump
outside lights
radio
outside kitchen light
power vent in bathroom !
hw heater
awning lights !
the possibilities are endless !
I better stay away from the coors light for awhile !

Not sure your diode idea would have worked anyway. From the remote wiring diagram I got that the current path toggles back through the remote controller to ground. Any diode installed to prevent feedback into the remote relay would prevent the remote from controlling the awning motor.
I think a double pole double throw switch so that you can use either the remote OR the wall switch would be the easiest way around all this pickle...

Is the remote module not in the NO position as is the manual rocker switch? If so, it shouldn't make any difference.

You are correct. The problem would be if they were engaged at the same time in opposite direction. Unlikely, but possible, and that would let the smoke out of something quickly!

This is true as long as no one ever presses the interior awning switch.
Power from the wall switch would then be routed to the awning motor and the remote receiver outputs which are grounded when not activated.
This would destroy the receiver.
F100turbo was trying to protect the receiver by putting reverse biased diodes in the outputs of the receiver (I think). Both lines would have to be so protected since either line can carry positive voltage (IN or OUT) and the opposite becomes ground.
With a biased diode in the remote output lines, there would be no ground path for the remote to operate the awning motor.

No fuse protection in the module.

I plan on installing mine with plan B.
With a double pole double throw switch in the lines; the switch will select the interior wall switch when flipped one way (thus function as a kill switch) and off the remote only when flipped the other way.
Both sides would be isolated from the awning motor and there would be no worry of a possible short circuit thereby letting all the smoke genies out of the module.

Great job Herk! The method you came up with seems the most practical and very easy to incorporate. If there was any battery issues with your fob, you would still have an option for stowing the awning. Can they be put up manually?

Yea, but if you are like me you threw away the part before you realized it was important. I thought it was a piece of scrap webbing laying in the camper. Here is the manual and how it is used (provided you still have that stupid strap). See page 3
