Sounds like a great mod. Fortunately mine came from the factory like this. Remote includes awning, slide out, stabilizer jacks and porch light. I guess I assumed everybody else's did too. I especially like being able to be outside when extending and retracting the awning.

I wish I would not be procrastinating so much, I thought my awning was going to rip off the wind caught it and it went almost vertical. I need to get my poles done and fast because these new awnings are made like a piece of tin foil....

I think you might have RVChicky's problem with posting pics. The poles only take about 30 minutes to install and you don't even need a ladder.

Deploy the awning and pull it down and tighten the arms in the down position.

Hi Friends,
I started following this thread when it was first posted some time ago. I thought this was a great idea and wanted to do this mod as well. My problem was that I don't use eBay and thought I was out of luck with this mod until I signed up. Well I figured out a way around it. I happened to be in Harbor Freight the other day and they had a remote on sale for a electric winch. It was 24 dollars. Someone on their website had taken the plug apart and discovered that the 5 pin plug was misleading as it contained 4 wires and the antenna wire. I will be in the process of wiring this in over the next few weeks when I get more time. The remote is good for 50 feet. I will order a direct response kit for the awning which rolls it up if it gets too windy. The kit comes with a dual switch so I can wire in a cut off switch.. I'll let you know how it goes.
Richard

Ok I finished my Remote control install for the awning today. It works great with the 1 thing. I have to be no farther than 6 feet from the 5er or it will not work. It might be because I had to mount it behind the control panel inside the door, or the battery, a number 27, could be low in voltage. Any suggestions, how far can you that have put these in control the awning. I mean it will work rfor what I wanted it for but I am just sayin!! I will try to post the video of it later tonight when I get home from work once I figure out how.

And to answer a question that I had from about a month ago, the remote was bad and they sent me a new one, this one works.

Like the poles too! Just don't fold the grab rail over the awning rail like someone did on this forum AND then blame it on the poles. Not to mention any names, but the initials are Daisy Boykin.

Most have mounted it behind the control panel where the factory awning switch is.

Turbs... Just when I think you can't get any dumber, you go and do something like this!
AND TOTALLY REDEEM YOURSELF!!!
I found myself shaking my head at this and I'm not 100% sure why...
It may be due to the fact that I find it stupid... I may find it lazy... I may find it pointless...
Ultimately I am feeling that I am shaking my head because I didn't think of this first and am incredibly jealous I don't currently have this installed on mine!
Nice work Turbs! Yet to be bored with you!

Thank you, however I mean more specific instructions? Anyone have the details on hooking up the wiring? I should've been more detailed in my question too.
