LED switchover

I started switching out the bulbs in my trailer. 26! On the inside so far. I still have the fridge and the fixture over the table. Next will be the running lights and the rest of the exterior lights. Click image for larger version

I meant the difference in the two sides... Is the left side the original bulb and the right side a new LED??

Left side is the bulb, right side is the LED. I had my iphone reduce the brightness so it wouldn't be two blobs of color

I am also converting to LED lighting. The difference is very noticable. I have been using the 48 led rectangles from ebay, paying about 1.30 each. These do not emit the RFI that many of the others do. More light, 10th the power consumption. I have also added a few extra along the underside of the cabinets ofer the countertops. Really has brightened the work spaces.

Not to mention the heat output of the bulbs. A few seconds radiates heat and will burn my hands trying to touch the bulb.

This should really help with keeping cool during summer months which is most of the year in Florida.

Been doing mine and keep finding more to change that I missed. after changing interior lights and doing some experimenting with different colors and vendors. I found what I liked best and went with them. I had already changed out all the exterior lamps with led and what a difference and a lot brighter than the original and you can even see them in the sun where the old bulbs you couldn't even tell they were on. I always worried about some body rear ending me because you just couldn't see them in bright sunlight now you can tell with the led's.

The ones I got from Amazon are a little dimmer then the "cooking temperature" bulbs but we like it darker.

I changed my last TT out and found that the old filament bulbs had started to burn ( a dark brown area) in the ceiling above the bulbs. The new LED lamps are a lot cooler. I found that l I liked the warm white bulbs the best. The plain white bulbs tended to wash out the colors out.
It seems like every bulb I have taken out of my new 320RS seems to be the old incandescent type. I thought they they were supposed to be LED. Guess il start changing them out. I'm having trouble finding 194 warm white bulbs. Any suggestions?

I got 2-20 packs of 921 LEDs from ebay. Just ordered some more for the turn signals and some more outside lights. I have a huge mountain trip planned in July with some smaller trips planned in between. Trying to get everything finished before July at least.

When purchasing LEDs to replace incandescents you MUST look at the color temperature and Lumen ratings to find an LED light similar to the old lights. Color Should be "warm white" and/or 3000 Kelvins or less for a similar hue to old lights. Lumens (light output) should 200 lumens or greater. A lot of the cheap LEDs online are 5000-6000 Kelvins (much bluer and harsher) and 150-180 lumens (dimmer) than incandescents.

Has anyone swapped out the exterior scare lights? If so, which bulb did you use? Big difference?
I swapped out one of mine just to see what the difference would be and It is much dimmer than the old bulb.

Thanks,
Don

Yup...used a Star-Lite 300 lumen 921 replacement. Works good. Changed the lens to clear instead of yellow. Nice and bright now.

Thumbs up

Rigid Industries LEDs inside ... much less draw when dry camping and a lot less heat + more light (bright)

They aren't as bright as I want. I cant recommend them as a replacement. I will probably go back to superbrightleds.com like I have before. Click image for larger version
