Decided to retrofit all my fixtures in my trailer to LED's. Now I went a different route from what you will see from the standard LED bulbs or modules that you can buy. I retrofit signs and lighting fixtures commercially for a living. I had some old LED's that I removed from a sign and thought I would try them out in the trailer. I think they work great and look good. Let me know what you think!

That is so much of an improvement. The yellow of incandescents bothers me, and when lights seem bright in my eyes but not bright enough to see!

Being I work in the lighting industry, I hate yellow light. White light looks so much better!

Will you be providing a "How to do it at home" article to show us all how you did it?

I teach maintenance on the new Boeing 787 and ALL the interior lights on it are LED. I really like 'em. I'd like to do the same in our trailer but at $25-45 per bulb, I think it'll have to either 1) wait until it never gets done, or 2) do them one at a time, now and then. But if you know of a way to buy the bulk LED strips and scab them into a bulb base, I'd LOVE to see how that's done because the bulk LEDs can be had pretty cheap on ePay.

Great job! I waited until my local trailer supply place had a sale to counter Camper World and I purchased 8 or 10 leds for $85. and I replaced all but one fixture. My wife prefers the yellow light to read by so I left her fixture alone over the couch where she reads. A happy wife is a happy home don't you know. While on battery power alone, before replacing the bulbs with led's, if I tured on more than 2 fixtures at a time, the fan on the electric panel converter came on. I can now have all the lites on at one time and then fan does not come on! Such a difference in power consumption.

Look on ebay for wedge based (sometimes called T10 based) SMD 5050s. I went with cool whites. Some I used were round disk type, some panels, and some round four sided types.

I decided to take a shot with eBay. I found 24-LED SMD bulbs to replace the 921 lamps in my light fixtures. $1.94 each, free shipping from China. I ordered 10. Even if half of them don't work, it's still a cheap experiment. If I like 'em, I'll order more. If I don't, I'm out less than $20. Probably won't arrive for a couple weeks or so. Will let you know.

Yes it is a 254Q. It was a left over 2012 model that I bought in December of last year. Got a pretty good deal on it. Love the trailer!

I could possibly do a write up. Would need to look into how much these LED modules would be. These were taken out of a sign that was getting new LED, so not sure on what the cost would be to purchase. I will have to look into it.

Nice.I thought it was.We love ours as well, its been a flawless unit so far.Only issue i have seen so far is the bezil around the skylight above the shower cracked last weekend. Not sure why but it did.Just the white bezil though.Maybe they over tightened a screw when installing it,not sure .We have it in a seasonal spot now and i think this LED mod would be a nice thing to tackle on a rainy day if we get one.Enjoy the 254 and happy camping.Oh ya,got to love the bunk that lifts up out of the way eh?

I have started putting led strip lights in all of my closet and cabinet space with micro switches. Have half done. It's great to have bright light when doors are opened. I'll post pics when I get it finished. Waiting on more lights. Bought the first ones from China. The others I'll buy in this country cause it took over a month for the first ones to get here.
They are cool.

We love the bunks that go up out of the way! This was the main reason we got this trailer. We have 2 teenage boys and figured they wont be camping with us much longer. This way when they dont go with us they are not in the way. Besides with those bunks you get the huge bathroom. I always hated the little bathrooms in our other trailers. Cant say this one has not had any problems. Many things have gone wrong and had to be fixed. Luckily I was able to do any repairs and not have to drag it to the dealer everytime. My repair list is a story for another time!

Nice touch on the LED's. They should be standard fixtures on all Forest River TT and fivers IMHO.

Haven't received the bulbs yet. They're coming from China with free shipping. Arrival estimate is between August 1 and August 19.

Glad I'm not in a hurry, huh?

Just finished changing out 20 bulbs in the LaCrosse. Used 250 lumen tower type, Natural White LED bulbs obtained from RV LED Bulbs (a division of Ocala HItch) for less than $9.00 each with free delivery. Ordered on a Friday, received on Monday.

Nice white light that is great to read by, runs cool, tho they do use about 3 watts. converter dose not run as much either.

This company had a great selection at a fair price, did what they said they would do. I know there are bulbs much cheaper, but a lot of people don't list the lumens, sure you can get a cheaper bulb, but what size is it. Hard to compare apples to organes.

Anyhooooo, LED's are a great RV mod.

Went with the 36 led panels out of china, two years now and only one replacement. We camp about 40 days a season so they get used a lot as we are on the morning side of the mountains and lose our sunlight at 3 pm
