Lippert Solid Step

I have just ordered some Lippert solid steps to put in my Ultra V 2618. Are there any gotchas that I should know about. Also, what are the fastners of choice to attach them to the trailer.

Not sure what they look like or exactly what your looking for but I use these for my 4X6 porch then just take them up when I drag up. You can use nails, screws, or just wire. I use screws with mine and you wouldn’t believe the sturdiness they make. Click image for larger version

I would think that with you ordering NEW Lippert Solid Steps that they would come with proper installation instructions and necessary fasterners

You need to buy 10 #10x1-1/2” wood screws with no shoulder (the threads need to go all of the way up to the head of the screw). There are no gotchas — it will take you less than a half hour and you will have to modify nothing.

Mine came with the instructions for electric steps for a class A, but I had already read the instructions online, so that wasn’t a problem. They do not come with the screws.

I think Jeff posted in the wrong thread.

No, no I didn’t. He asked for fasteners for his steps. I use those and they made mine really rigid. And I didn’t have to anchor it to my camper. So no I didn’t post to the wrong thread. If your trying to be sarcastic, please take that crap elsewhere. We are all just putting suggestions in. We all have different opinions so please don’t rag on people trying to help out.

I wasn’t being sarcastic at all. What you described and pictured has nothing to do with the installation of a SolidStep, so I thought you must have posted in the wrong thread. That’s all. I just can’t picture where an 18” long, 3/4” spike would come into play here.

mine came with the fasteners, two different types for different floors, but i did have to trim the sweep off the bottom of the screen door to get it to close, and its still a little tight but the steps are still great, no bounce when someone comes in the camper.

Did you remove the 1-1/2” wide section of threshold from the inside? If not, I can see how they could get in the way of the door.

Bruce was not ragging on you. He made a simple observation (I'm sure he learned something for this exchange) Your first three sentences corrected his statement the rest seems to be you ragging on him. I agree with you we all have our ideas and inputs thanks for your's.

Yes, I did, here are a couple of pictures, I thought the little lip on door frame bottom may need taking down someClick image for larger version

The only difference between your installation and mine is, it looks like you didn’t push the steps up against the side of your trailer before you screwed the base plate down, rather, you installed the base plate tight against the edge of threshold. My base plate is about 1/2” away from the edge of the threshold and the steps are tight against the outside of the trailer. Maybe that makes a difference — I don’t know.

Am I correct? Is there room for your steps to be moved closer to the side of the trailer by a 1/4” to 1/2”?

Bruce

I used a grinder and a file to fine tune the threshold on my camper so the Lippert solid steps would have the necessary clearance for the screen door to work as before. Excellent upgrade!

Thanks, your right. If he sees this, sorry brother. You just get a lot of haters on here that like to put people down. A lot of times I don’t make a lot of sense due to my brain injuries from deployments.
