I can say that if my new 5er had come with the old style fold-out steel steps, I probably would have negotiated with the dealer to replace them with the Torklift steps. It's one of the very few compromises I made for this trailer. (You have to compromise something with every floorplan.) After our first trip, I'm not regretting the compromise.

For those who have a unit with the MORryde or Lippert steps from the factory and no cut-out below the door, you might be interested to know that I did contact Torklift by email at one point and the person I spoke to said they may be working on a solution for that if you want to switch to their GlowStep Revolution steps. He was rather coy about their plans but did hint that they are looking into it. If you're interested in being able to do that, try emailing them to see what they say. Personally, if it voided the Lippert frame warranty to have the GlowSteps, I wouldn't be willing to do it.
I don't see anyway adding steps could void a warranty , even if you welded on the frame to mount the steps . If you get a crack in the frame on opposite side say by the spring hanger no way they could void a warranty cause you welded steps on the other side up front . they would have to prove the welds caused the crack . there are federal protections for warranty and what can and cannot be denied

The good news is there is a lift assist kit available for the step. Claims to be a one finger operation....index finger

Shows the kit at the 4 min mark

Don’t bad mouth something just because you have an issue while your rig is in storage. The morryde step above is a great product. I had them put on my TT and bought my fifth wheel with them already installed. I wouldn’t have anything else. The glow steps look cheap to me but i have never seen any except for the pics in this thread. As for your wife and kids not being able to figure them out or pinching or cutting figures, i don’t understand that at all. Any kid that is tall enough could do it in there sleep. Teach them proper use.

To me this product is a great idea, but doesn't have all the bugs worked out yet. I figure they have the potential to be a great product by generation 3 or 4

This is our first camper and we only saw these steps when we were shopping, that said my experience with other camper steps without exception was if there was a pool behind me I could bounce and do a back flip, never liked that and the way it felt. I am sure the new production pullout steps are a big improvement. Biggest drawback is the room needed to fold them down. Also the pull down steps have to be checked for proper level at each campground.....

I cannot believe people are complaining about this steps w/o even trying them (it's the internet, so not so hard to imagine I guess).

While I don't have them #yet# on my Roo, they will be on soon. So much more solid and stable. The salesman said he has lost potential sales based on an certain model of camper not having the updated steps.

And I'm sure he has lost sales, due to those steps also.
I think the steps are a good idea. But they introduce new problems that some of us will not put up with. I'm hoping the problems are addressed in the next generation of steps.

Lippert solid step...removal

All I know is I want Glowsteps...but I am too tight/broke to pay $550 for them.
Looks like I am stuck with the .50 cent factory steps....I mean diving board.

Read back thru comments and clearly it is love or hate!! pick your poison ... I vote step above ... I am old and tired to much bending over for the glow steps but I think they may both do the job ...
