Thanks! I would like to get one that we can drive with it mounted securely. Has anyone been able to do this successfully with this? When not in use take it down and use for other purposes?

Waterproofing backup camera

Saw your post and bought one
Looks like it will work good, but just thought of a potential problem.
Lots of rain in south Louisiana, and found out from the company that the camera is not waterproof?
Any suggestions?
Looking for a clear plastic storage container to possibly use
Thanks

I have the PEAK backup camera from Auto Zone, it works when it wants to, had 2 thin little wires from the camera that hook into the ground and backup light. The antenna has to be as close to the cab as possible, and it still has interference problems. I HATE IT, I'm going to go this route I think.
I like the FIX for the reverse view... pretty slick! Thanks

For those going with the GE camera and who don't have a rear window, has anyone found an elegant way to install on the rear of the TT for use while driving down the road? I'd love to do this but am not sure how to protect the indoor use only camera from the elements w/o it looking "goofy". From the other mod postings I've seen on this forum, I'm sure someone has a good solution for this.

I may have an idea on this, after seeing a waterproof case in a sporting goods store the other day and remembering how doering made a mount below.

Plexiglass mount for the "rear view" camera

I may try it and see how it goes.

My initial thought is the infra-red lights built into the camera may reflect back, but I also may be able to put electrical tape over them. I may try and test this scenario and also see if it seems the camera heats up while inside a watertight (and possibly airtight) box.

PS. as we have talked about using the camera when aiming satellite dishes at the campground, I used mine the other day for re-aiming my satellite on the roof of my house.
