Wmtire, that's pretty nifty. When hitching up by myself, I can usually get centered up side to side, but as far as how close I am, I just struggle with that.
I am going to check into that! Thanks for posting!

Thanks for this idea! I found one on Ebay, shipped to my home for $70. Works great using the magnetic bowl setup.
Hooked up by myself first shot. Didnt have to get in\out 10 times!

Very nice!
I'm looking into Edge Products digital gauges for my truck and one of their backup cameras. It comes on automatically when the truck is in reverse. It would be really nice to see behind the trailer though as well.

Basically checking in with other members who have this wireless camera setup, to see if you have encountered any problems with it. Mine is still going strong, but I don't use it as often as others may. Trying to get a good feel to see if the system has longevity since it's been a year.
I would appreciate any comments. Thanks

I use it in the back window of my trailer every trip to see what's going on behind me, and I use it at home to monitor the dogs when they're outside. So its had plenty of use and still going strong.

I have been reading through all the posts and have really appreciated everyone's input and ideas!!! Love this forum. I do have a question though...I have a 2006 Salem LE 27BH with no back glass. (tow vehicle 2007 Dodge Dakota) What kind of mounting system would you guys recommend? Also with the recommendation would you travel with it mounted or mount when arriving at campsite. Our biggest concern is we tend to arrive at campgrounds at night and have a hard time backing in at night with just flashlights and talking on our cellphones It would be nice in addition to helping position our camper on site if we could use it during travel to help with the blind spots. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum Valerielea. Are you wanting a camera to see behind you while driving?
If not for that part, you can do as I did in the first post (see pics) and mount the camera in a magnetic parts bowl with a couple of rubber bands around it. Just stick the bowl (with camera) aiming down at your hitch to aid you while attaching the trailer to the truck.
You can also just sit the camera (still in bowl) at the back of your campsite, aiming at what angle you need, to see when you are backing in to the campsite. I place mine on a railroad tie, that is at my favorite campground/site...and park my trailers stabilizers right over the tie, and let them down on it. Easy to do. There are also some pics of this angle in one of the early posts.

Thanks! I would like to get one that we can drive with it mounted securely. Has anyone been able to do this successfully with this? When not in use take it down and use for other purposes?

Waterproofing backup camera
Saw your post and bought one
Looks like it will work good, but just thought of a potential problem.
Lots of rain in south Louisiana, and found out from the company that the camera is not waterproof?
Any suggestions?
Looking for a clear plastic storage container to possibly use
Thanks

I have the PEAK backup camera from Auto Zone, it works when it wants to, had 2 thin little wires from the camera that hook into the ground and backup light. The antenna has to be as close to the cab as possible, and it still has interference problems. I HATE IT, I'm going to go this route I think.
I like the FIX for the reverse view... pretty slick! Thanks

For those going with the GE camera and who don't have a rear window, has anyone found an elegant way to install on the rear of the TT for use while driving down the road? I'd love to do this but am not sure how to protect the indoor use only camera from the elements w/o it looking "goofy". From the other mod postings I've seen on this forum, I'm sure someone has a good solution for this.

I may have an idea on this, after seeing a waterproof case in a sporting goods store the other day and remembering how doering made a mount below.
http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...era-41035.html
I may try it and see how it goes.
My initial thought is the infra-red lights built into the camera may reflect back, but I also may be able to put electrical tape over them. I may try and test this scenario and also see if it seems the camera heats up while inside a watertight (and possibly airtight) box.
PS. as we have talked about using the camera when aiming satellite dishes at the campground, I used mine the other day for re-aiming my satellite on the roof of my house.
