Mattress upgrade
Hello, We just picked up our new camper a couple of weeks ago so we haven't had a chance to sleep on the mattress yet. Just sitting on it, it's as hard as a rock, I know the factory mattress aren't very good, so I'm looking to upgrade it. I been looking around and came across one called Zinus memory foam, and was wondering if anyone has one, or could recommend something similar.
Thanks.

Ill be keeping an eye on this post, because I just picked up my new camper Monday. Defiantly need something. I was considering a memory foam mattress topper. Any thoughts or ideas on upgrading a standard camper mattress would be great.

I think putting a memory foam top on a bad mattress is not a good bet. We replaced the whole mattress.

We upgraded to this. We have to lift the mattress to access our clothes and found this is doable. Even the price was doable..

We have had toppers in the past, and found them to add a bit of comfort, but really not the solution to the problem of a crappy mattress.

It's a night and day difference over the 4 year old Serta Pillow Top that came with our Lexi. And, even the Serta was an upgrade from the standard mattress.
Came boxed, free shipping. Just put it on the platform and in a few hours had expanded to full 10" thickness. Minimal odor that went away after a day.

We put a 3" memory foam toppper with a down mattress pad. The pad holds everything in place because we have to lift our bed in order to close the slide on our V-Lite. The bed is very comfortable. The key to the foam is finding the density you like. Some crush down easily no matter what thickness. Some are way more dense.

We bought a conventional size Queen mattress. Better prices, a lot more choices and so much nicer to sleep on!
I know not everyone can afford to "lose the space" as they are about 6" inches longer than the camper mattress. But if you can, it is an option!

Last two RVs we replaced our mattress. Both new mattresses came from Amazon, after a crazy amount of reading and time spent understanding what I was buying. In both cases, I had a short list of mattresses that I would purchase and then one day I stumbled into great sale (thanks slick deals) on a mattress that I knew was on my approved list. 100% happy with both mattresses. Both were purchased hundreds under their normal Amazon price. Lots of sales on these products.
For both RVs, I needed a mattress that was delivered in a small narrow box. These small boxes weigh in at 130 - 150 pounds but are so compact that I could get them inside the RV, down the hall, and into the bedroom (after removing the stock mattress). I set the mattress on a throw rug and could slide it around the RV. A full size mattress purchased at a big box store in King size would never have fit through our RV door and around all the obstacles.
One of the nice things about the 100% foam mattresses is that if they eventually fail, you can cut them up with a utility knife for easy removal and disposal. The compressed mattresses with an innerspring could be more difficult to remove if you keep your RV long enough for the mattress to fail.

a good nite's sleep is worth it's weight in gold
I dunno, we're awfully happy with our 4" memory foam topper from Costco over our OEM mattress. Just personal preference. Do what makes you feel most comfy in bed! Happy Camping!

We decided on the 10 inch Zinus memory foam mattress, got it on amazon with free shipping. Should be here in a couple of days. We're going to take the one that came with the camper and put it in the lower level of the house for the dogs.
