Mattress Upgrade

Looking at upgrading our short queen mattress. We tried the memory foam mattress topper but have decided we need an upgrade. Anyone have recommendations?

We have a mattress we really like. It's a Zinus Deluxe Memory Foam 8 Inch RV short queen. It's on the firm size and very supportive. We got it at Amazon.

Short queen mattresses come in two lengths, 74 and 75 inch. We needed the shorter one, we have a Murphy bed.

I got the same mattress on Amazon. Night and day difference. Well worth the upgrade.

Thanks for the suggestion, We just received the mattress and have it opened up to regain its shape before we camp next weekend. So far seems to be exactly what we were looking for!

Great! It's made a huge difference for us. Sleep on it and let us know how you like it.

One option is to visit a local mattress maker. We have one in where I live that builds them for rv's on a regular basis. Try out his showroom mattresses and he'l build one to fit your rv.

There should be one of these custom shops near most major cities, even small ones.

Another option - if you have the room - is to extend the bed by about 8" and use a standard size Queen mattress. This gives you a lot more variety in the mattress' that are available. That's what we did and we love it (8" memory foam - ahhhhhh)!

We considered doing that since DH is a tall man but the heat register is in the way. I am hopeful this new mattress will improve our sleep

I too have the
Zinus Sleep Master Deluxe Memory Foam 8 Inch RV / Camper / Trailer / Truck Mattress, Short Queen
(per my order on amazon)

It is a crazy huge upgrade over the two POS mattresses I have had in my trailers. It sleeps well, feels good. We are very happy with it.

I have the same mattress as well. I thought it was a little to firm for me. Then I decided to put it on top of our original RV mattress and that really made a difference. It’s perfect now.

I have a new Rockwood 2104S with a queen Murphy bed but the mattress is absolutely horrible. Does anyone know how thick I can go with a replacement? The OEM looks to be about 4/5". Thanks

I also bought the 10" Zinus, but got a much better deal on the full queen (almost $100 cheaper).

The mattress has a zip off cover, then under that is a sewn shut bag that reminds of a very thin burlap. I took off the cover, then sliced the bag open to expose the foam. A reciprocating saw with a fine tooth metal cutting blade made short and very neat work of the foam to get it down to the right length.

I used seam tape to fold over and secure the sewn bag, then zipped the big cover back on and except for a bit of loose cover that I have to tuck under, you would never know it didn't come like that.

We tried sleeping on you factory mattress by adding a pillow topper. It was still very uncomfortable. I researched this forum and others and reviewed many different mattresses. We finally decided on the Wilderness RV Mattress - Short Queen Montana hybrid plush (11"). (quality/warrantee/positive reviews) It came in this week. We unpacked and unrolled it. It inflated quickly and initial testing shows it being as comfortable as our home mattress. It fit our murphy bed perfectly. The additional thickness required us to remove the shelf above our heads in the bed so it would fold up. We were going to remove it anyway as we have hit our heads on it a couple of times LOL...We paid $650 - but it is well worth it.

We went with the Denver Mattress short queen. It is expensive, but worth it. The stock mattress made my legs numb. With this one, I sleep comfortably. It is a full 11" thick, so make sure it fits.
