Mattress upgrade

Getting ready to buy a more comfortable mattress for our rockwood 2504s queen bed. I'm leaning towards the 5.5 inch cool max gel foam one from mattressinsider.com. Anyone have tips for mattress buying and or experience with this mattress or company? Thanks

We purchased a memory foam from mattress insider and have been very happy. I'm not sure if it is the same mattress your are considering but ours has done well for over two years. (approx. 125-150 nights)

Just an FYI... The Murphy bed on our 2306 does fine with a 4" memory foam... However, we recently added a pillow top mattress cover and now the bed is hard to lock when putting it up for the day. A little too thick I guess. We use just a sheet and fleece blanket, so not all that much as far as covers.

That's good to know. this replacement is 5.5 inches but I don't believe the factory mattress is less than that?
I will definitely check.

Sorry... I mis-read your post. Ours is on top of the current mattress, not in place of. If you're ditching the current mattress, you should be fine.

As an alternative POV, you may want to check out the sleep number mattress. I have not talked to a single person that regrets spending the money on one. This will probably be a future upgrade for us as well.

Lots of nice mattress upgrades discussed above. However, DW and I really like the heated mattress that came with our Mini Lite. Great option on those cool nights.

We use a 2 or 3 inch memory foam topper on the likely standard mattress in Surveyor and find it very comfortable. Used the same topper in our previous Jayco and were just as happy with it there. I did have to put stronger struts under the bed to access the storage there.

We uses a fitted sheet over the topper and mattress and a Travasak that we found on clearance.

Lucid Memory Foam in 2306 Murphy Bed

We just replaced our factory mattress with memory foam and couldn't be happier. bought a 60x80 Queen memory foam from amazon, 8" thick LUCID model for about $250. Unzipped it from the fabric, cut it to 74" length using a sharp bread knife (do it in the backyard, it's messy), and then my wife sewed it up. The 8" provides a good base. Memory foam is firm enough that if one of us rolls around the other does not feel it. 8" with sheets and 2 blankets is just right but any more blankets and you would need to drop to less than 8" to fit the bed in its latches. We lose the heated mattress but for the number of times we've used that feature it was well worth the trade.

So the 8inch fits in the Murphy bed option?

Yep, unless you plan to sleep with duvets or other massively thick blankets I would say the 8" is the best bet. It fits for us, perfectly, no adjustments necessary to the latches. Ours is a 2014 Mini Lite 2306, I can't vouch for earlier models.

We left our queen memory foam at 80" and use the extra deep fitted sheets... Works well. It didn't effect putting the bed up at all and gives you a few extra inches at the bottom. Might not work for everyone, but it worked for us.
Also... an update from my PP... Now that our down pillow top (on top of the factory mattress & 4" memory foam) has been slept on about 10 nights, it's getting easier to close up through the day... Glad we went this route.
