Mod for folding chair storage - basement

Purchased two antigravity chairs last fall (on sale). Storing them has been difficult due to their size and they were always in the way when getting other items out. I just finished installing two shelves which hang from the basement ceiling.

I think this will improve access to the chairs and other items down there.

Very nice! I went the other way and put them directly on the floor but built a shelf that goes up and over them. It's made them a joy to use vs. a hassle to dig out.

And I went another way and built a roll out drawer to put lawn chairs in that rolls about half way out of the basement.

I always like your mods OC. Wish I had the patience and organized work shop.
My next is the stinky slinky fence post storage under the MH.

Thanks for your idea and comments. Please post some pics of your mod so others can see these three solutions and determine what works best for them.

Great mod! I always read your posts. We just have the rack that hangs on the ladder - we only carry the one lounger. This mod would be much nicer.

Surprisingly, I don't have any pictures of it installed- but shown below is the shelf that I made. It's either a 2x10 or 2x12 for the height of 2 chairs stacked. I actually put feet under it to raise is slightly more so that I can put my folding table down first and the chairs on top. I then am able to put stuff on top of the shelf itself of directly on the chairs. The chairs are always mostly accessible (ok, the plethora of kids stuff- bags, badminton rackets, golf clubs, you name it don't help!). But it is still a world better than it was before.

This is going to help me! DH can and will do this to help with the load in the basement. DH says traveling with me is like traveling with the circus - I take everything, including the animals.

This is what I have been trying to talk my dh into building for months now.

Depending on where you are in NC and your trailer, we can build you a roll out drawer and make it real easy to get the chairs, table, etc. out to where you can access them real easy.
It sure made my life easier.

I've got actual build photos of it. The hardest challenge for me is cutting a straight line with the tools that I have. I ended up using one of the 2xWhatevers and clamped it down as a guide. Then it was just some pilot holes and screws.

I know that OC looks down his nose at other solutions and feels his is better. It's definitely less bulky and nice that they slide out, but I am happy with how mine turned out. I really don't need it to slide, I just set stuff in on the edge and slide it back into the shelf. No fuss, no muss.

Au contraire my friend, I don't look down my nose at anyone's mods. If it is good for them, it tickles me to death. I just happen to be lazier than most folks and can't crawl into my basement or lift things like I could when I was younger. I have to do things as easy as I can or otherwise I couldn't/wouldn't be able to go camping.

Thanks for the offer OC but I like the shelf better because it gives me more usable space above the chairs. DHs argument is he doesn't have the right tools.... well Christmas is coming may be it's time for a table saw?

Interesting for us - and other 8289WS 5er owners: the Zero Gravity chairs will store vertically in the basement - we put our 2 chairs on the right hand side next to the toilet drain to the black tank.

It depends on which chairs you have

Some of the wider ones do not fit upright in storage .....😞

Only takes a 5/16" nut runner/screwdriver and about 10 minutes time to mount.

I just throw my chairs in the back of the truck bed. I don't care if they get wet. My 8289WS has limited storage in it. Oc built me a roller shelf, so I didn't have to crawl in and out makes life a lot easier on me. Why waist that on chairs.
