Modifications to Roo 183 part 1

I have made several modifications to our Roo 183 that I wanted to share.

1. Added a quickie flush to the black water tank. Add quick connects to make it faster and easier to connect and disconnect. Also don't have to worry about leaks. Click image for larger version

4. Siliconed plexiglass to the screen door so the dog does not rip the screen when he taps to go in or out.

5. Extended the fresh water drain to the side. No more crawling under the trailer to drain the tank. Used a clear tube so that I can see if any water remains. Mounted the drain cock to the side with a 3/4 inch pipe support.

6. Installed LED Lights in the outside storage. Operated by a switch by the water filter. Tapped into the front light that has constant power while on battery or shore power.

7. Installed LED under the awning and under the first step. I ran the wires through the channels in the floor that forest river uses to run their wiring. I ran the wires all the way up to the control center and installed a JR switch.

Nice mods that you did. One advice would be hopefully you are using a dedicated garden hose for your black tank flush as it does not have a vacuum breaker valve in line with flusher to prevent contamination from reverse water flow from black tank to your water hose. You should be using separate water hose for city hook up and black tank flush.

I would like to see more on how you hooked up the fresh water tank drain. Looks like a good idea.

Fresh Water detail

wellcoman,

I have included more pictures for you. The piping for the fresh water drain is PEX 1/2 inch pipe thread. I tried to find the same elbow that forest river uses because it is low profile. I had no luck so I robbed it from the air intake and re-plumbed the air intake using PVC and PEX. I needed low profile because the drain on the side had to be lower and I did not want to go to low.

I threaded the drain cock (which I bought from local RV store) to a PVC coupler. I bought a 3/4 inch copper pipe hanger from home depot and PEX 1/2 inch to insert fitting. I screwed the PEX fitting in the PVC which sandwiches the hanger. I used 3/8 inch clear tubing so I could see if there was water in the line. The connections to the PEX insert is just 1/2 inch PEX clamps.

I added a rubber spacer between the frame and the pipe hanger to make the drain about 1/4 inch lower than the bottom of the tank.

I used tread tape on all the treads as well as a little petroleum jelly. It is the petroleum jelly that guarantees a leak free connection.

Yes, I do use a dedicated hose. The quickie flush also has a back flow preventer.

It is just a JR products switch. I bought it from my local RV Dealer. The JR products manufacturer number is 13405.
