Lightbulb Mods for my Rockwood

Here's what I've done to upgrade my 2106 this year. Pics are in no particular order.

Hey revrnd, I'm giving serious thought to adding the same mod. Tell me, I know that the BEP switch is rated for wet areas, but do you feel it is resistant to the level of spray you receive on the road in a rainstorm? I.e., so far so good?

Just asking, since it appears you mounted it in a very convenient location on the A-frame.

Dual Battery Box

I made this box out of 3/4" plywood painted inside & out. I used a pair of popup top latches to hold the lid. It will hold 2 Group 24 batteries.

We had a messy drive home on our trip last month & there was very little road spray on the front of the trailer. The rear of the trailer was a different story. The lugs inside the switch are stainless steel.

Mudflaps

Mounted rubber flaps behind the wheels as I noticed a lot of mud thrown up on the sewer valves. I didn't notice how they worked after our July trip.

Sewer Pipe Holder

Since my Rhino hose wouldn't fit the bumper, I got some pipe from a friend (same mod) & purchased the end fittings. Mounted the pipe to bumper w/ galvanized strapping & stainless fasteners. The attachments are stored in a palstic bin w/ a "locking" lid.

Flagpole Holder

Getting ready for our trip to the US Nationals in Clermont IN later this month. A piece of 2" ID pipe welded to 2" square tube.

The square tubing also has a 5/8" hole drilled crossways so it can be mounted in a 2" hitch receiver. In the past I used a flagpole holder that you drove a wheel over. I didn't like the way the pole swayed back & forth. The pole never hit the side of the pickup, but if I had used that base under 1 of the trailer wheels, the pole would've been too close for comfort.

Flagpole Mount

The mount is bolted to the bumper. The bolts go thru 2 holes that are drilled thru 1 side of the holder. They clamp against the inside of the bottom of the square tubing. I should get some stainless bolts to eliminate the rust issue. The mount & holder were powder coated.

Coat Rack

The trailer didn't have anywhere to hang jackets. I mounted a piece of 1" square aluminum under the front overhead cabinet. I placed fender washers under the nuts inside the cabinet. The swivel hooks I got from Lowe's. On a 600 mile trip the hangers & coats stayed put .

External Speaker Harness

I used a spare 4 flat harness to connect to the stereo outputs. The longer part of the harness goes out the door. The cover plate is from a hardware store.

Clothes Cabinet

The original cabinet had a coat hanger rod, but wasn't tall enough to hold a jacket or coat. The cabinet's "outer" wall, was double-walled, so I would be able to screw to the wall. I placed a layer of panelling on the bottom. For the 2 upper shelves, I added 1" square pine on each side to support 2 more pieces of panelling. I can now store my clothes for travel properly rather than in a duffel bag.

Thanks guys. I figured I'd show what I had done to my trailer. Maybe give someone out there an idea for their RV.

Nice indeed! Tweaks really help make things more convenient and everyone likes to have some "custom" mods to show off! Great work!

I'm thinking it was around 35 bucks CDN (probably slightly cheaper in the US). I picked it up @ a marine supply store.

The cabinet/closet in the bath is slightly larger behind the toilet. It has a coat hanger rod & no shelving. Right now it's empty. I'm debating whether or not to put shelves in it as well. Not really sure what I would store in it as I have my bath/toilet supplies/chemicals under the bathroom sink.

Any suggestions?
