Storm Door

Being home for a few weeks I decided to make Plexiglas storm panels for the screen door so that I can have the outside door open during colder weather so that the sunlight comes in. I used Plexiglas panels that fit nicely into the small groove on the outside of the door. Once the panels are made to size they snap right in. The small notch in the upper panel (both lower edges) allows the panel to be snapped in to the edges and then pushed up into the upper groove.

You would think FR woud have gotten feedback on this and corrected it. My 09 Windjammer has the same cross brace as well and it is a joke.

I've replaced the front one already with 2 X 3 tubing and added the BAL lockk bar struts and it has made a huge difference. Planning on replacing the back crossbrace and adding the struts as well.

Was planning on going with scissor jacks on the back, but I I think the "C" jacks work good on this lightweight trailer when properly installed and braced.

Also, gonna add Homemade(shop built) Jack Stabilizer Bars similar to the ones in the photo. Check out what Neil did to stop the shaking.
Ok, I replaced the front flimsy crossmember with 2x3 sq tubing and added the BAL lockbars and made a huge difference. Just about as good as when I had the front sitting on jack stands!

Just finished doing the same in the rear and only notice a slight improvement. Think I am going to shim the acme screws on the "C" jacks like "dunnnc" did in the link you provided and see if that helps some. I think you could make the shim like he did, or remove the pin and and completly unscrew the screw and just place a washer on the shaft to take up the space. Might see if I can come up with a bronze bushing to make it tight.

Problem with the rear is that there is not near as much weight and you don't have the "A frame" stiffening up the trailer frame rails like you do in the front.

When tightening the front you feel a noticable resistance. When tighening the rear it just starts lifting the trailer and keeps going. Either flexing the frame or unloading the suspension.

What you end up with is a trailer that is rock solid on each end and springy in the middle. Some small scissors jacks in the middle of the trailer would basically lock out the suspension and make for a very solid and stable trailer.

sorry to jack your thread.

I see that you have a stianless steel microwave oven. Did it come with the stainless steel appliance pkg.? We ordered that and everything but the microwave came in stainless steel. The company said they didn't have a microwave in it. ?????

The microwave was part of the stainless steel package, don't let them cheat you out of it. Good luck with your Forest River Product!

Steady Fast

Today I ordered the Steady Fast system Welcome to Steady fast I should have it by the end of the week. I will also be replacing the factory stabilizers with 6 BAL scissor stabilizers, 2 at the front, 2 at the rear and 2 behind the wheels to take out the bounce. The 2 jacks behind the wheels will eliminate the 2 screw jacks that I have been using. I will be making the upgrades when the 3+ feet of snow melt, probably in late March. I will post pictures of the work (probably under a new thread as this one is getting old).

Lowes, I just used the faucets and not the drains. Most hardware stores will have faucets also.
