Mounting a new TV on the turntable.

I just got my Surveyor SP-295 last week and camped in it for the first time this weekend. We picked up the trailer a day early, so the television wasn't installed yet. No matter, I bought a flush wall mount cheap at Wal-Mart and plan on installing it this week.

The setup in our TT is one of those turntable things that allow you to swing the TV around and watch it in the bedroom if you want. The backing is made of 1/2" plywood, so I think it will support the wall mount no problem (26" LCD, approx. 20-30 lbs). I'm planning on drilling through the plywood and using some bolts and washers to hold the bracket on the "wall".

Has anyone tried this before? Any suggestions?

I think your good to go. Drilling and using bolts is a better option that using Screws. Then on the oposite side, just put something to hide bolts, maybe a picture or clock etc. The bigger the washers, the better support you will get around the bolts.

The more you can spread the load at each bolt head, the less stress on the piece your mounting to.
I have a 32" lcd In my trailer and it weighs 20 lbs, so I think your at the lower end of the 20 to 30 lb range.
Good luck and post some pics for the next guy

Use fender washers. Any hardware store should have them.
they are much bigger than normal washers and will spread the load

TurnTable Mounting

For what it is worth... I have a Wildwood TT and it has the TurnTable set up in it... One side of the turntable is for the TV and the other has a mirror on it... To mount my TV, there were 4 screws holding the mirror on and once removed, there was plenty of room to attach the mount bolts with fender washers and locking nuts.. Once done.. put the mirror back on.. I have seen TT without the mirror and just a piece of plywood in its place.. I would assume that it removes the same as the mirror.. Take measurements from the side and you will tell if there is room behind the TV mounting side for nuts and bolts..

Mounting TV..

I used one similar to the one pictured below. It not not only folds out but tilts if needed.. When not in use, the TV is folded back into the turntable and held in place for traveling with a bungee like flex cord. These mounts are available at most department stores of on line auctions.
