Mounting a TV

We have a bunk room in the back of the camper and want to attach a TV to the rear wall. Has anyone done this or have any ideas how to do it. The hardware on a normal TV mount seems way to heavy duty for an RV.

This is the one I am looking at. I wanted it to be able to have a mount I could also use outside.

need to find metal or wood behind the wall to mount to, you might have to span the distance between studs to make it sturdy, maybe with a piece of oak, unless there is wood already mounted there

The way I would do it is to hake a piece of good plywood and make it big enough for the tv mount and to hit at least one stud. Finish it to match the other wood in the camper then mount it to the stud with good screws, not just drywall screws, and put some liquid nails behind it to bond it with the paneling.

If on outside wall, be sure screws aren't too long and poke thru the outside skin

In our garage (sandpiper 38') we used the stock mounting pads on the rear or a 32" element flat screen. Went through the wall into the living area above the door with longer screws allowing it to mount flush. Works like a charm!

I just moved my tv in my toy hauler ran all wires through ceiling and attached mount to stud. Was originally going to cut plywood to span two studs then screw into plywood but new 32 inch tv was lighter than old one and after returning the first mount back to amazon because it weighed more than TV I took one out of my house that was light. Screwed right into stud. Works good and is solid.

Now TV is back where the couches are and you are facing TV instead of looking sideways and no longer have to look all the way across the trailer to see it

My 32" outside tv weighs 12lbs......bought a movable mount at Wally's, with the littlest bolt mount area (100X100), made a adapter out of nice plywood with a 200X200 bolt area, added a male rail piece to be able to use the outside grill mount already on side of trailer, added cables from inside to outlets in the covered electrical plug-in.....whole deal is about 21 lbs.

Have you looked at the GoStick TV mount?

I have this and have used it on the exterior fiberglass wall (under the awning area). I imagine it would work on my bunk room back wall anywhere that there is not a seam.

You'd have to test it to see if it will hold suction there. It will depend on the wall surface, it needs to be pretty smooth and non-porous. If you have windows in the bunk room it would most certainly stick to those with no issues as long as the piece of continuous glass is bigger than the suction cup.

These work on cars (same product is sold by another dealer for bike racks, I have one and love it, trust it with 2 $6K mountain bikes on it) and outdoor fiberglass walls, so it doesn't have to be glass smooth, just smooth enough not to leak air between the suction.

You simply take a damp rag, wipe the surface, then pump the suction cup to remove the air and make it stick.



I wouldn't leave the TV mounted during travel, but if it holds suction I would trust it just fine while parked.

the stickit bracket is kind of pricey for a suction cup and a piece of 1/16" flat metal, for me anyway, JMHO
