My 2013 Roo 23SS mods

Hi all. I've had the new Roo for a few weeks now, and have gotten through several mods, with a few more to go before our first trip. Several of these I picked up from other forum members. There are certainly a lot of great ideas on this site!

Completed:
1. added shelves to wardrobe closet
2. added screen to exterior fridge access panel
3. added screen to front water pump access panel
4. added privacy curtain near bank bunk / bathroom door
5. secured the optional rear bumper step so it stays in place
6. secured bumper caps so they don't vibrate loose
7. filled wiring harness with bulb grease
8. built box to hold hitch bars and sway bar
9. installed hooks in side panel storage to hold awning bar, slide bar, etc

Pending:
10. add drawer to the cabinet on the right by entrance door (drawer built, but the face is waiting on varnish to dry)
11. add bathroom shelf (waiting on the varnish...)
12. replace shower head with Oxygenics brand
13. replace curtain rod with bendable i-beam
14. add plexiglas to shower corners (by cabinet & toilet)

UPS just dropped off the Oxygenics and new curtain rod so I'll get those installed over the next couple days.

First camping trip planned for 19-April. Can't wait to try this baby out for real!

Pictures to follow...

screen for fridge panel

This one was a little tricky. Basically had to work the screen to get it bent to shape, and then I used small push tacks to secure in place on the edges, and small zip ties to secure it in the middle sections.

The tacks do penetrate the other side by maybe 1/16". I bent the points over so they stay in place. On the next dry day I'm going to add a small drop of white silicone each. Not worried about water, just don't want to stick my hand in there and end up with a cut from a tack sticking up!

Nice list of mods. Thanks for the pics. Don't forget to add screen to your furnace vent too. I even hot glued a couple scraps of screen to the bumper plugs.

Ah, forgot about that. The RV store had a pre-made unit that I picked up for the furnace vent. And good idea on adding screen to the bumper plugs, will put that on the to-do list.

Tom, great ideas! luckily, i don't have to screen so many things out here, since bugs aren't a big problem.

what's the rear step for, didn't know it's a new option? can't be useful when the bunk is out.

there are a lot of 23SS owners on RV.net, that have a lot of mods done on theirs. one put a huge sliding storage tray under his. another one installed a side window, by the sofa in the slideout, like the 21SS has.
i can point out a few of them for you if you'd like to see their ideas.

just wondering, why screens everywhere?
is it bugs, mice or pests in general?
