Absolutely brilliant! I've been scouring the internet for a solution to transporting my 4 bikes since the back bumper is out of the question on my hybrid and this idea is awesome. It will save me $300 from buying a front a-frame mount! Thanks for the post. Second best hybrid mod only behind pugs!!!!

Lippert the company that makes most of the frames that Forest River uses has several solutions for bike racks. Call them and they are very helpful in selecting what's best for you. They make the frames so I thinks they should know what will work or not work. They may so no go on hybird but doesn't hurt to check all options.

My bike carrier mod for a Roo 233s (should work on other models)

Any issues with bike sway/moving while towing with 3/4 plywood that the base is attached to? I did this mod to work out any kinks by attaching clamps to original 1/4 plywood and there was a lot of flex. I expected this but wanted to try the fit before spending $30 on 3/4 inch plywood to see if everything would fit.

Just took the Roo on its first trip with this mod. The bikes didn't move an inch while traveling. By far the best and most inexpensive way to carry bikes in a hybrid that can't carry bikes on the back bumper or on a front mounted bike rack. All in for less than $50 including the clamps, wood and hardware.

Saris makes a front wheel mounting rack for traveling that I may add to the dinette setup.
Thule makes one too that looks more solid. Trying to decide.
