So this weekend I dewinterized my new (to us) TT. Then I started in with the mods. So far I had installed LEDs everywhere but now I moved forward to the batteries and storage. I installed a diamond plate box on the front which took alot of work. We had to move the propane tanks forward about 1" because I could not find a pre made tool box that would fit. Sounded simple in my head but when we tried to do that, we discovered that the hose was too short. Turned the tank regulators around and that solved that issue. Then while building the platform to put the box on, we noticed that the front diamond plate was loos at the bottom. It appears the staples had rusted through. We cut a small piece of diamond plate angle and sealed it in place. Then ran real screws into the flooring support to hold it in place. We mounted the box to the battery box rails to make sure it won't go anywhere. Looks factory (or better) and will give me plenty of storage for Batteries, WD bars, and leveling blocks. Tonight, I am going to drill a hole in it to run the cables through so that I can install my 2 new 6 Volt GC batteries inside. Then I will cut a could of small vent holes so we don't get fumes.

I will then be adding magnetic switches to the front pass through storage area and a LED strip to light it up.

My last custom thing will be a sewer hose holder as the one that I bought (Rhino) won't fit in my bumper. It appears that when the original owners added the bike carrier hitch mount on the back, it may have slightly crushed the pipe just enough so that the fittings wont fit inside the bumper towards the middle.

On order I have a Progressive Industries 30 AMP Hard wire surge suppressor with remote display. I also found a great deal on eBay for an RV sized Memory foam queen mattress to replace the crappy thing that came with the camper. That will end the project list for now as I am out of money and now that summer is here (FINALLY) we are ready to camp.

That's it for now. But more is planned, just have to wait until I can afford it and have time.

I got the batteries installed this weekend. Went with the 2 6V Golf cart batteries that should give me 215 AH of run time. That is plenty for the type of camping I am planning on doing. I also added a battery cutoff switch (inside the box) so I can disconnect when needed. I will be adding a strip of LED lights to the lid of the box for light tonight. Then I just have to get the lights put in the pass through storage and the sewer hose fence post mod. Then I am pretty well set.

Until I find my next sets of mods to do. And the money to do them of course.

This weekend (thanks to the storms we had off and on) I got a few more projects done.

1. Sewer pipe storage. Thanks to everyone on here for the ideas. They worked great. (Pic below). For the lock on the open end, I used a couple of stainless eyebolts and a short bungie cord. It is simple and easy to replace if something breaks.

2. I forgot to take pictures but here is another DW project I got accomplished. She bought a small folding plastic table for camping. It exactly fit under the bed in the storage box. Only problem was that we would then pile everything on top of it. Since we would use the table more then the other stuff, I put 2 2x2 rails on the out side walls inside the storage box. That way the table sits at the very top. She can put her pots, pans, and anything else under it and we can still use the table.

3. Added a couple of small boards under the dinette to keep the pots from sliding around.

4. I tried out the lights in the storage box but the led strips are not quite as bright as I had hoped. I will probably have to add a couple more to brighten it up.

Forgot the pic of the sewer tube holder. My 4 year old calls it the "Poop tube holder" and he is facinated by it for some reason. Even helped me with the first dumping of the tanks.

How was your tank base mounted? I also found a pre-made truck box that will work on my trailer. Going to use it to haul firewood.

I need to move the tank base forward. I was surprised to find holding it to the tongue were 3 sheet metal screws on each side. Is that common? As I took them out 3 snapped off from being rusty.

I was going to use angle brackets to mount the box to the frame but might do like you and mount it to the battery rack.

Yep. A couple drill point screws were all that was holding it down. Put in some new ones once I got the tanks into position.

As for the toolbox, the aluminum was thin so I took the box off, cut a 1/2" sheet of treated plywood down to size, and put that between the 2x4s and the box for support. Works like a champ.

I like that mod! Very nice. Just have to watch weight on him much goes in.

Putting in two batteries and the room for the cut off switch takes up alot of the room. Mostly light stuff (level boards and plastic wheel chocks. When parked, it hides the wd hitch stuff.

I added a Progressive Industries Surge Suppressor system onto it last fall. I chose the hardwired, 30 amp model with remote display. Very happy with it so far. It is amazing to see how much (or how little) power is used my the camper. Also gives me some piece of mind when camping up at our remote farm. Power up there is not the best. Heading to the Camping show this weekend in Minneapolis and St Paul Minnesota. I am sure to see something that I will need to add to my rig. Now if this darn snow would just go away. I miss my weekend camping.

Ha, I know what you mean. I added a hose storage, I had one like yours but changed to this one that suits us best and gives more ground clearance. b
