It's in. That was a simple modification and it only took me about 20 minutes to do. It works great, no problems. I installed a flush mount SPST rocker switch on the wall instead of a switch on the bottom of the faceplate. All the wiring is behind the wall and I can take the face plate off without disconnecting a wire. Rock the switch up for high speed and down for low speed. Thanks everyone for all the info.

Well dangit, now see what you've all done! I've been putting this off for longer than I should have. Now the DW has seen the photos and read how easy it is, so guess what I'll be doing this weekend while camping??? Oh well I should have done it a long time ago.

Question, what is sensing the temperature, I don't see a thermistter on the sub base?

The sensor is located in the face plate, which houses all the electronics.
