My new GPS solution

On our last trip, my Magellan GPS fondly named "Bitchin' Betty" had what appeared to be a nervous breakdown. I looked for a while for a replacement but decided to try the iPad and the Copilot Premium HD program. I looked at several mounting options and settled on one made in the USA by a company called Padholdr. I purchased their iFit series holder but had to sand down the spacers to get the fit I wanted. When all was said and done, I think it turned out fairly nice. They have custom mounts for many vehicle.

Nice install..good luck with it!
I have CoPilot HD premium on an Android 10" tab..but have been using my Garmin760 since it has the RV settings... Thinking based on your post that I might enjoy the larger screen & array of functions as an adjunct to the Garmin.

Anyone out there using the Steelie mount system with a larger Tablet?

The copilot has a setting for trailer height. This company has mounts for tablets other than iPad. That Steelie looks interesting.

Kewl...just found the height setting! Thanks a bunch...I need to play with it more!!
Yeah...I tried one of the steelie mounts in a store with a large phone and it worked really well...quite hard to pull off the dash ball. Was thinking that a couple of ball mounts might let me use the tab conveniently in the car and the RV. They show them with tabs on their web site...but I'd rather get someone with real world experience to confirm. They have the basic kit and the options on Amazon for pretty good prices and now a bunch of knock offs are coming out but I don't know how they will work over the long term.

GPS Solution

Filthy Beast: I also use the Co-Pilot program on a dell Android tablet. I have a mount from Ram Mount http://www.rammount.com I have the suction mount and also the solid screw on mount that I use in the truck. The suction mount is for use in other vehicles. I love the program and the mount, it works great. Regards; Frank

Thanks. Tried CoPilot again and found the height adjustment as well. Tested it on several routes where I know there is low clearance, that is not listed on some of the low clearance website or apps. coPilot routed me around both. .most cool. Have added it to my arsenal.

Cool instalI I have Co-pilot as well and like it too. I use the iPad original with gps and just use apple maps. The vehicle is the little
blue dot and is accurate within feet. I'm amazed at how well it works when used this way.
