I have my LEDs in the slot on my awning tube and I never had the problem of sticking. Are you placing your LEDs in the slot or just stuck them to the awing tube?

Just finish my awning lights ended up drilling a small hole and wired to 12v power

pics of my LED setup

I'm very pleased with mounting them to the awning tube as they shine toward the trailer. I can even aim them based on how much the awning is rolled out.
We had a 4AM thunderstorm one early morning last week and it was very simple to quick unplug them and roll the awning up.

I broke one of the wires on the small male to male plugin. Anyone know where to buy a couple.

Not sure if you have the RGB light strip but here is a link for the 4-pin Male Connector Adapter for RGB 5050 LED Strip Strips LED Light
