Hi RVCHICK,
I am going to ad the second set to the right side of the awning on the same rail. The right side of the trailer is pretty dark. I think it will look nice with the whole side lit up.
I will only need to buy 1 more strip and a Y connector to connect both sets to use the 1 controller.

I need to figure out how to do this on my Roo with the manual awning. I saw where somebody did it by putting a hole and running the box inside the camper but that scares me.

I'm pretty sure that was ChooChooman. I think he was pretty terrified about putting the hole, but it worked out well.

I have a Primetime Lacrosse - has anyone added these lights to this TT model awning? I would like to know where/what the power was taken from. I'm looking for an elegant install.

It's not the trailer, it's the power awning that you need which I assume you have.
You need to follow the awning power wires down the awning support into the camper.
You will need to read some of the original post. There are at least 30 pics of different trailers with the same setup. My album has my setup.
You need to find your 12V source. I ran a fresh one from the fuse panel.

Just ordered mine!! Got the one with the power adapter. Gonna try to rig up something to waterproof the connection while hooked up at the campground for a temp. If all goes well, I'll figure a way to wire to 12v system.

Ok, at 1300+ posts, I'm just going to ask instead of trying to find what's probably been answered 3x.

I have these set up. They work(ed) great, until I had a ground short. Fixed that. Now the awning lights come on, but the remote doesn't work, they are stuck on the 'white' setting. (if you get real close, some of the led's appear to have a super fast flicker, but from a distance, they appear solidly on)

Anyone have this happen, and if so, was it the controller / receiver box? Or was it the remote?

I'll probably order replacements for both, but just wondering if anyone ran into this specific issue.

A couple questions if you don't mind. Do you have a picture of the lights so I can see where you mounted them? How did you access behind the media center column?

I'd love to make it more permanent but with the manual awning I think your way is less scary than drilling into the side of my camper. lol

I had the same concern, hence the route I took.

This picture here is not mine (I will try and remember to take one this weekend and update my mods thread), but is pretty close to representing what I did. My lights are a little bit more to the left, but it still sits inside enough so that when the awning is rolled up, it's completely hidden & protected. Did the same on the other end, using the closest cut mark.

Also, I stuck them directly to the awning pole right above the track using the supplied sticky tape. So far they haven't moved or come off at all. (the pull down strap doesn't allow another choice)

For the media center, I used my dremel tool to cut a square hole the same size as my on/off switch. I then managed to get the wires through that and down through the existing counter top hole (It's only about 6-8")

From there, I drilled directly through the floor to get to the bottom of the trailer, and then ran the wires on up to the battery and also over to where the awning pole comes down, as per my mod pics.

Here too is a pic of my drill point in the floor of the media cabinet. Do NOT go any closer in than this! It seems far out, but my 'test hole' as you can see was too close to the wall and hit some sort of aluminum piece that I didn't expect. Not a big issue, but I couldn't get the wire through so I filled it with caulking and tried again.

Ah so yours are on the roller side. Any issues with any connectors making a mark on the awning when you roll it up? I was thinking more of doing it under where the awning mounts to the camper so I can use them if awning is not deployed.

Correct. No issue so far, though they've only been installed a month or two. I figure the light strip is so thin, even if it did make an indentation, I can't imagine it would be much that I'd notice (or care).

Quite a few folks have done it the way you are thinking, with solid results as far picture evidence goes. For me, I figure if my awning wasn't out, I'm probably not going to be outside anyway, so who needs lights?

Sounds like you fried your controller.
I did this to my controller by reversing the polarity (I think).
I had the same symptoms anyway.
I just bought a new controller off of ebay --> 44KEYS IR Remote Controller Receiver FOR 3528 5050 RGB SMD LED Strip Light 12V | eBay

Everything worked fine after that and I now have two remote controls so the DW and I can fight over colour

You could probably find a cheaper one from China on eBay. They all seem to be made there. I just went with one local to reduce the delivery time.
