Maybe, but $8 with free shipping and < 1 week ETA from New Jersey works perfectly for me. Thanks again for that link!

Try this mini RGB controller to replace factory LED strips with RGB strips. It is small and fits behind the awning upright valence that hides the power wire. Also allows you to use the factory power switch for the lights. I put heat shrink around mine just to keep it dry. It is RF as well and works from a decent distance.

I am using one of these for ONE of my LED Strips (have 2 awnings on the 8289WS). I wished that there was a way to use more than one, but they operate on the same frequency with the same codes, so only one can be used without interference and unpredictable results.

I evaluated 5 different RF Controllers, and this one I rated #1.

The review is Post 1009 in this thread.

I purchased from eBay a continuous 10m strip of 5050 LEDs 60/meter. I need about 6m for under my awning and wanted one continuous strip. The place i got them from (greenandless) said that the 10m strips of 60/m have a wire inside the strip that goes to the other end of the strip to power that end due to the amount of LEDS, length of strip and as a result a drop in voltage. The 30 LEDs/ meter strip don't have this problem.

He told me that I should be safe to cut the 10m strip and use a 6m long strip without any dimming of the LEDS (voltage drop) There are amplifiers you can buy for about 8 bucks to make 2 normal 5 meter strips together instead of the 10meter strip with the extra wire inside. He said anything longer than about a 7meter strip you'll notice the dimming if it doesn't have power to the far end via internal wire or amplifier.

I plan on using the 6m strip under the awning, purchasing another control unit, remote and AC adapter and using my leftover 4meter strip somewhere around the house.

Also if you do use a cut strip you can order end caps from eBay. Be sure to cut at the marked cut lines. Hope this helps.

Hung the LED strip today and have a slight problem.

Cut the hole into the camper. CHECK
Hung the strip on the piece underneath the awning against the camper. CHECK
Spliced wires together and waterproofed using shrink tubing. CHECK
Pushed wire into camper thru bushing and sealed with silicone. CHECK
Wired into 12v near bunk fan. CHECK

I turned on lights every step of the way to verify everything working properly. All good. Then the job is finished and I turn it on to take a look at what had been a up to that point flawless job and notice that when using the 44 button remote that when I use any color in the white button row the closest three LED's to the line that heads into the camper will only stay on GREEN. Hmmm. Any other color under BLUE, GREEN, & RED rows work perfect. Has anyone ever come across this? Is there a fix? I have posted a picture of all blue which works great and all white which you are seeing the three LED's on the right in GREEN. Grrrr.

I am using a 5050 strip with the 44 remote.

Sounds like the strip might be finding a ground.
I would look for a bare spot on the strip at the farthest malfunctioning light segment from the power connector.

Bingo. Good call Herk. So I started pressing on each of those three LED's with my finger and the one closest to the power is the culprit. I press in on a spot around that one and then those three do as they are supposed to. Once I pull my finger off that spot they go back to green. I am unable to notice anything particularly different there that would stick out. Any suggestions? I would even take a suggestion that would deaden those three but leave the others on. Problem is power runs past these three. Sighs.

Short of replacement? No. Sorry.

Only thing you might be able to do is cut the strip to remove those three lights and then re solder the wires back on. Not easy while up on a ladder if you don't pull them down, but it is possible. To make it easier you could pull down a short section of them (enough to work with them from the top of a ladder) so you are not soldering them upside down. If you do this make sure to solder them back in the right order.

First off, kudos and thank you to everyone, (especially Herk) on this thread for your ideas and assistance, I have actually read this thread from start to finish prior to doing my camper and helping my buddy out. We did however run into a problem and I'm not sure if its similar to WarMovies issue, so here it goes. We are running our LEDs up the right side of the awning support next to the trailer, make the 90 onto the awning support at the top, make the next 90 and go down the left awning support. In order to do this we've had to splice two LED strips together using the LED Connector Box mentioned earlier in this thread. (BTW works like a champ!!!) The frist strand of LEDs lights up perfectly in all colors, the second strand of lights lights up perfectly in blue and red, however in white, pink and green we see sporadically different colors throughout the strand. I've attached a picture of the white as its the best to see what I'm describing.

These are the lights that we purchased: Waterproof LED Strand

Any help would be appreciated.

Well took the 2603 out for a 4 day weekend. Got the lights up at the last minute, of course after reading 136 pages. I ordered the RF LED lights from ebay, learned how to use a multi-meter and solder and low and behold, there was light!!!
I ran it through the wall with a wiring grommet from home depo sealed it, and tied it in to a cabin light in the front cabinet.

Wife was pleased on how clean it looked and the remote worked flawlessly. Thank for all of the advice here on the forum.

Now I just need to figure out how to mount these!!!

Has anyone tried using 5050 LEDs instead of the 3528? Are they too bright?

I think most of us use the 5050 lights.

Yes, most (me included) use the 5050s.
Note: They can be adjusted with the remote for brightness as well.
