Just re-did mine and ran into the same issue. That OEM tape held great.
In fact it held so good (and NOTHING up to and including acetone) would remove it. I just stuck the new lights right on top of it.
I work at a large format print shop and run into this tape all the time and have to remove it often. Use a heat gun (very carefully!) never keeping it one spot too long. This should loosen it up enough to pull a lot off.
Whatever won't come off, douse liberally with goo gone or another adhesive remover. Let sit and then scrape off. A plastic squeegee works great, never metal! Whatever residue is left over is removed with isopropyl alcohol.
It's not a quick job, but it works.
I'm still have trouble figuring out where I can mount my led light strip. I have the 2014 Stealth WA2715. Also can I tie into the electric awning motor?

Unroll the awning and you will see the bottom of the aluminum rail the awning slides into when it is installed. There is room there for TWO strips side by side.

Am I mounting the LEDs on the awning roller? Also what am I doing for power?
Am I? or I am?
I mounted the tape under the awning attachment rail and ran a 4 conductor "telco" (phone) wire from the tape connector down the awning arm that carries power to the awning motor.
I used the same wall penetration to mount the control box right behind the penetration and got power from the "foot light" by the door. That way I can turn the lights on and off using the inside switch.
Others have had success using the outside bug light to mount the controller and a short piece of wire mold to get to the end of the awning tape under the attachment rail.

I just purchased the supernight led strip light and it did not come with a manual on how to use the remote. I can get most colors but not white. I push the W button on remote but nothing happens. Looked on internet for manual and can't find. Anyone know where to find one?

Here is the manual and some other info.
The first image is how to reset the remote.

After beginning with the very first post in this forum and reading upwards of about 800 I skipped to near the end and have decided to add an LED strip to my fiver. My brother-in-law paid $130 at an RV store for a set recently, they look great but way too expensive so I am happy to have found this forum.
Mine are enroute from China and hope to install over the 4th of July weekend. My background is electrical engineering so I don't expect issues finding a fused source of 12v to power the strip. I will end up with both 24 and 44 button remotes so anxious to see how well they work.
Big thanks to the pioneers here that have been so helpful to the faithful followers.
I've viewed and read this thread a few times - I love the posts, pics, advice, humor!
I am close to starting this project on my 2014 Cedar Creek 36CKTS. I got 2 sets of Supernight 5050 RBG lights from Amazon; my awning is over 16 feet long and so I wanted to have enough for a full run across. I have decided to mimic the setup I saw a few posters use and go up/down the awning support attached to the RV in addition to the mount under the awning rail so as to get plenty of use out of the excess lighting strip.
The question I have is with wiring. I'd like to use the existing hole where the awning wire is located - bottom part of front/right awning support in pic. But I am having trouble seeing where that existing wire goes once inside the rig.most of the wiring is well-hidden behind beams and boards. I will likely try to tap into the 12V light in the storage area, which is quite a few feet from the awning wire entrance point - hence my dilemma. Trying to avoid drilling any new holes if it at all possible!
I have read where other CC owners talked about doing similar wiring, but was not sure how they went about it, nor was I sure this concealed wire thing was strictly a CC issue, so I am approaching the Forum as a group for advice. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Shame your step light is on the other side of the steps; as that is how I re-wired mine. (I pulled the plastic "bucket" out of the front storage area and ran the wire to it). Originally, I ran it to the basement light, but it was inconvenient to have to leave the camper to shut off the awning lights when we went to bed.
Another option is to use the existing bug light and a wire mold (or inside the wall if you can) to run the control wires up to the awning track. Use a T connector to attach the power wires to the middle of the LED track.

Thanks Herk. Shame indeed - I know - right? If I was adventurous and handy - I am neither - I might try to run a wire down from the inside to the step light on the left side. I was trying to steer clear of having any wires visible from outside, but now in am leaning toward the idea you suggested here and tapping into the porch lite. I may get the T connector and actually run a short set of lights down to the porch light housing (and then probably doing the whole replace the porch bulb with wire concept.). How do you think that will look - sort run of lights rather than wire molding?

I ordered and installed a RF controller. It was easier for me as I was able to hide the controller in the rig and didn't have to worry about the IR receiver being in view. Just plain made it simpler. Ran mine down the awning into the rig just to the left of my dresser (where the awning wire came in), than behind the dresser draws and mounted controller just to the right of the dresser. I tapped 12V off the storage compartment lights and used quick disconnects. I set it up to I could tap the 12 volts and I also used the AC to DC converter so I could use 110V as well. A bit of overkill maybe but would rather use the 110 when I have shore power. Went out last week for the first time, all worked great. RF is the way to go. IMHO
That would not be my first choice.
I doubt you will like the look.
Thanks Herk - I truly value your opinion!
Most of my related parts have now arrived - T-shape 4 pin connector, the connection housing, cable extender...so weather permitting I'm gonna try to go to the rig this weekend and try to figure things out. Planning on leaving regular ends on so that I have the option of the 110 connection either way, with intents on cutting. And connecting in at least 1 section up top - likely 2, since the run of the first will probably stop well before my plan of having a T junction near the porch light in the event I hook up to the power there a will be my closest 12 volt source.
There is a pretty weak "step light" (I use the term loosely) to the left of the steps which is also controlled by the porch switch that I could try to tap into, but would have to be a longer cable run than I wanted to do. Still trying to avoid any holes in the rig - DW has nixed that idea, and I don't feel up to the task anyhow!
Wish me luck!
Wayne

OK, finally got mine up! Went with 2 sets so I could go up/down each awning support arms, which will give more light but also make wiring easier. I tried to use the OEM adhesive but much of it came off when simply removing the paper backing, so I removed it completely and went with the 3M molding tape.
Haven't seen them at nite yet, planning on formal breaking them in this long holiday weekend at Ocala Sun RV Resort. Looking forward to seeing them in action as I sit an enjoy my labor - and a cool beverage or 2!
Getting them up was Phase 1; will be plugging in to 110 for now. Phase 2 will be tying into DC power. I have a definite idea now of where I'm going - into slide gasket, down behind fender and tying into small rather useless step light to left of steps. Just have to plan out how/where to mount controller. Leaning toward a faux porch light if putting outside or weatherproof box if behind.
I can only seem to get 1 photo at a time to upload from my iPad, so went with the red while awning open and a video of one of the color changing effects (assuming it uploads correctly ). Let me know what ya think!

Another photo with awning closed. I should still be able to get light from above when I can't/don't deploy the awning, and of course will get light from both sides of the awning supports. I can't wait to play with them at nite, but gotta work a few days this week first!
