My WiFi Camp Pro 2 Install

I purchased a WiFi Camp Pro 2 system to help with WiFi service while camping in our Windjammer 3006WK. The Camp Pro 2 appeared to be a well-rated system, at a good price. My only issue was how to mount the antenna. The antenna is directly connected to their "Tube" which is a WiFi receiver. A standard USB cable runs from the Tube/antenna into the RV and plugs into the WiFi router. I didn't want to permanently attach the Tube/antenna to the top of our Windjammer, and I didn't want to put a hole in the roof to run in the USB cable.

I decided to attach the Tube/antenna to a 5' length of 1" PVC pipe and use a vacuum mount from TechnoRV to stick the pipe with antenna to the side of the trailer. I installed a USB port into the outdoor shower box and connected it to the WiFi router which I installed in the water pump cabinet below our pantry. I used a 10' USB extension cable instead of the 25' one that came with the Camp Pro 2 kit. To set up, I stick the PCV pipe with antenna onto the side above my outdoor shower, and plug the USB cable into the port inside the shower housing. I put a small grove in the bottom of the shower housing door for the cable. I'm happy with the way it turned out.

Nice job. My CampPro antennae slides directly over a PVC pipe and the cable runs inside. Not sure if it has changed...mine is almost three years old.

What is the use case for using this unit? It extends the camp’s WiFi? To increase the signal strength?

I mounted my antenna to a 12’ painters pole.

Attached to my ladder up 8’. So the antenna is up about 18-20’

I tried one of those double vacuum things. It slipped on my side. I use a bungee cord to attach the painters pole to the ladder.

Works well. Often able to stream movies. Always music/Spotify works.

Yes. It will see and use many more networks than your phone/tablet. But, you have to have the password for a network to connect.

It can be used to connect to a Mobley if you have one. The Mobley has a five device limit but it doesn’t know the CampPro may have 10-15 devices connected.

I rarely use mine since I now have unlimited AT&T and Verizon hotspot boxes.

Nice job! I got lucky with mine and was able to attach the Tube antenna to the top of my ladder and run the cable down the refrigerator vent on the roof which was a foot away from the ladder. I put the router on the wall near the floor by the fridge which is above my converter and ran a 12v line from my fuse box so I wouldn't have to use the AC adapter. Makes a nice permanent mount with no cables visible anywhere inside or out.

I used the same strategy, but I'm a "big dog", so I mounted 1/2 of a PVC Tee to the ladder with epoxy and extended the antenna out about a foot and then up, but no higher than my "air draft".

this isn't to hijack this thread, but to offer another method of holding any antenna pole to the ladder, ... I use a 24' painters pole from Lowes for my aftermarket tv antenna and mount it in spring clips attached to the ladder, ... snaps in, snaps out, ... solid, quick, easy, ... I have actually added these clips on both sides of the ladder, the other side is used for a 12' pole for a cell phone signal antenna(which doesn't work very well, but the pole could not mount any easier than snapping it into these clips)

What clamps are you using to mount the spring clips?

How do you reconnect to a new WiFi as you change campgrounds?

The wifi camp pro 2 has some pretty spotty reviews on amazon, still liking it?

Yes, but of course it's only as good as the wifi you connect it to. I really enjoy only configuring the one device and all our other devices then connect to it automatically.

I've used the same setup with the 1" pvc pipe and vacuum mount. Works great, thanks for your sharing your setup.

My Camp Pro 2 generally works really well at most places we go to. My only problem is I can't get it to work at or favorite campground, Rip Van Winkle due to it being a captive portal that's seems to be different than other places. At other places with captive portals, I can usually connect with one device, and then the rest just work after I connect, but not there.

I read about a workaround from tech support about cloning the MAC address of a device that's already been connected to the captive portal, but the newer Camp Pro software doesn't have the MAC cloning field like shown in the how to video from Rokland Tech. If I could get it to work there, it would be perfect and it's the place we spend a week vacation at every year.

There has to be a way, but I haven't been able to figure it out yet.
