Need Kitchen table ideas

Looking for options for a different dinette table.
Our rig has typical U shape dinette area with table that has folding legs
so it can be made into an extra bed.

We don't like the legs as they are in a double upside down T configuration
so the cross bar of the T is under your feet when sitting at the table.

I've wondered about different style legs or even a different table altogether.

We could save that one for times when a grand child might go with us
and use a different table for times we're alone (which is most of the time).

Any suggestions besides just going to furniture stores and trying to find
a tiny table?

Try going to an RV dealer(s) and examine the different types of mechanisms on units in their lot. Mine, uses a slide design off the wall to support the table top, and it also lowers to make that xtra sleep area.Then you can source the gizmo you like on the net. Make note of any mfg marks when looking.

I'm going to watch this site too. I just ordered my camper but noticed right away the table was going to be too small if we had company. My husband and sons are very talented so I'm sure they'll come up with some type of extension, but I'd be interested in what others have already done.

We removed the base and added screw on wood table legs we got from Lowes. Its just the 2 of us so we dont use table for making a bed, easy to unscrew and store legs under dinette when traveling, we also did the same for the countertop extension and love how I can put it where needed.

My Wildcat Maxx u-shaped dinette has two fixed pedestal legs which makes sliding around the dinette difficult. I found the Springfield 3 stage pedestal that I will be replacing the two fixed legs with. A couple links: Springfield 3 Stage table Pedestal #SPR-1660230 and

I removed those stupid factory legs and had the dealer replace it with a single metal tube leg. It has a female insert in the floor and bottom of factory table. Works great.

Just the 2 of us and rarely the 2 grandsons. Eliminated the uncomfortable dinette on the last 2 campers and went with the table and 4 chairs. The boys can sleep on the sofa bed on those few nights and 4 at the table plus TV stands if we have more company. Those sleeper dinettes are fine if more than 2 children are always with you or if desperate for sleeping room. Other than those reasons they are a huge PIA.

You can use the table you now have . Remove the current legs and install a piece of 1/2" plywood to the bottom then purchase two pedestal legs and bases the height you want and install to the table. If this dinette is in the slide out you will need surface mounted bases for floor. Works great and will give you a solid feel.

I am not sure what your size or arrangements are, but I have just remodeled our 2008 Surveyor 303. We removed the booth from a 12 foot slide, which abuts a jackknife 6ft. couch and placed a small 41"x 29" table with 4 chairs.(I cut the table length down by about a foot to keep Susie happy, but it wasn't necessary).

I picked up the table and chairs at our local animal shelters thrift store for $15.00. The chairs were in good shape, white with maple seats and the table was all maple and beat up. After painting the legs and sides white and sanding the table top and a couple coats of varnish, everything matched and looked wonderful. There is only my wife and myself, but this arrangement will seat 4 comfortably, which was all the booth would do and it is much more open and spacious. We are also able to move the table out into the middle of the kitchen slide area if we choose for even more room, but haven't found the need. We also like the look much better. I have found no issues with tying down the table while travelling and I lay the chairs down flat on the carpet just in case. The interior of our TT cabinets white. We also removed a couch & bunk from a rear slide and installed cabinets and a wardrobe cabinet in the 6ft. slide for Susie's cloths & other stuff. I also took some shelves and doors out on the other side of this slide and mounted a combo washer dryer in it's place at working height. All the plumbing was adjacent to this area which abuts the bathroom.

I also took the top from the booth table and cut it into two pieces, which I used to make a fold down shelf for our limited kitchen counter space and mounted the other 2/3rds in the rear cabinet area as a fold down computer table. I don't know where you are located, but the table base for the booth was a center pedestal if that would be of any use to you. We also have the booth, fold down bunk and 5.6ft. couch in good condition showing little wear, that I would let go for a six pack if anyone is interested. We live on the east coast of Florida and drive to the finger lakes area of Upstate, NY every summer with other stops along the way from Charleston<SC and points north up 95, 81 and US15 to NY.

Here are some pictures of my table. The pedestal was the only answer I could find. It works great and the table is very stable.

this idea isn't about changing to different legs or to a different table, but how we changed/improved our original table in a way that fits our use of it,
we have the U shaped dinette also, and because its just the two of us, we didn't need the dinette bed option,
but we did want a little more room on the table top to accommodate two laptops, eating space and all those other things that just seem to end up on the table,
I made a "cap" that extended the table top to the back cushion of the middle sitting area,
the photos show the "before" and "after", this is our second trailer with the same U shaped dinette and I've done this mod to both, we like it this way

In our case-- it's looking like removing the original legs and installing 4
screw on legs might be our best option. That or make a new table with
screw on legs.
We've got a bit of a unique situation. Our U shape dinette is in a rather
deep slide. When we're on the road we take the table and fold the legs
and stick it upside down on one end of the U. This leaves the center
floor space open where we can store our one recliner.
This means a permanent pedestal is out.
We have thought about removing the U dinette completely and getting
table and chairs but that would not leave us room to store the recliner
and our U dinette has tons of storage room under it that all would be lost
if removed....

I'm leaning towards a slightly smaller table with 4 legs or just modify mine
by removing those well made but in your way T legs and adding 4 corner
legs.

I will be having 6 at the table on different occasions. I want to have a temporary extension on the other side and use two folding stools while we eat, then put everything away afterwards.

We could fit 5 at the table but only bring 4 chairs. Game night recently the women were at the table and guys had tv stands in the living room. Still, prefer just us and 2 guests at a time.
