I may go ahead and pick that up and put some under the faucet just in case.

For the record, the instructions are silent. This (the bathroom) faucet came with a nice rubber/silicone mat that installed underneath. I am pretty sure it is water proof once tightened down to water from OUTSIDE the faucet. But it would not protect any drips INSIDE the faucet.

The one I mounted outside on the kitchen used a hard plastic, so I ran a bead of clear kitchen silicone around it.
