need some bathroom sink/faucet suggestions

I want to upgrade the bathroom faucet and possibly the entire sink. I need some suggestions on what people have done. Not afraid to think outside the box.

Problem #1 (the real reason we are doing this) the existing faucet is very low, and does not extend very far out into the sink. Result is DW have to bend face into sink to wash, which is uncomfortable and has led to actually hitting the faucet with her face. Need a faucet that is both taller and extends out further.

Problem #2 - the plastic sink is just not attractive. It simply does not match the interior decor of the rest of the camper. I would prefer to replace it with the bowl style sink that sits above the counter. However, worried about both replacing existing countertop and also the location of the 110v AC outlet next to sink.

Suggestions on either or both? see atached pictures for examples.

This is available from HD and is recessed into the counter top. You would not have to move any electrical or the cabinet.

We went to Lowes and bought a complete new faucet & drain assy for less than $60. Love the movable spout!

well - little problem: ran up to Lowe's last night to let DW take a look at that Peerless faucet. She liked it very much, but they were of course out of stock. I can find it at another location but in the meantime I was looking at my pictures of the sink and existing faucet and noticed two things:

1) the sink only has 2 holes, not the more common 3. one for hot, one for cold. Not sure a residential faucet will install here.

2) the indentation on my sink for the faucet looks awful narrow.

Since the RV sink has no provision for the arm to control the pop-up drain, any thoughts on if the Peerless faucet will even install there?

You can drill the 3rd hole, mine only had 2 holes also. I did not install the pop up drain. I always install faucets with rope caulk around the base to insure water does not get in and mess things up underneath.

Bought a set of Glacier Bay Bathroom Faucets at HD for under $35 for our powder room at home. I will be using this type when I need to replace mine in the motorhome. As for the three holes that only is necessary if you use the individual valve and spout. As for the drain mecahism they include a small plug that goes in the hole when you don;t require the drain lift pin.

roger that - well, if the snow will melt enough I can get the trailer out of storage in time this week to do some work on it, maybe have it in place before we go camping this weekend. If the snow melts...

Got it installed last night. Did not leak check yet as I did not want to try and run a hose in sub freezing temps.

The sink is actually three hole, they just cut the two they needed.

The drain is not the right size to try and add the pop up drain, not that I think there was room underneath anyway.

Looks good, need to clean up the square left by the old faucet.

I agree, it looks great. Looks like the one I installed. Did you put a rope caulk under the base to keep water from seeping in and down on the things inside the cabinet?

There is a rubber base with the faucet that will stop water from going under the faucet. I am hoping that is sufficient.

so while I was at it, I never liked the bar style faucet they put on the outside kitchen sink. This was not a problem of appearance, it was actually very nice looking, but rather performance. It only stuck out about 1 inch. I think it was designed to be mounted inside a sink, not on the counter-top behind the sink. It was not possible to wash ones hands without getting water all over the counter. This bothered me to no end.

So I went up to Home Depot and found a laundry sink faucet that had a pull out sprayer. Less than 40 bucks. It is chrome which I don't like, but I could not find a stainless or nickel version anywhere. It makes the sink much more usable. And has a hose thread end on it so I now have an outside hose spigot on that side of the trailer.

You should have put some plumbers putty under it as well The rubber base will work but the extra insurance does not cost must and could save the counter top. Most times the instructions recommend using putty.

And it is so easy to do. This stuff can be used just about anywhere and it never hardens. Frost King E/O 1/4 in. x 90 ft. Rope Caulk Woodtone-B2WT at The Home Depot

I carry a roll in the camper.
