New TT first modifications from experience

What are the first things you do to a brand new TT that might not be obvious to a newby?

Here is an example of what I am looking for: ran across a thread here discussing adding screens to openings (heater, refrigerator, hot water heater, etc.) to keep little critters out. Was something that made a lot of sense but not something I would have thought of either. It made me wonder what other tricks or tips like this might be lurking out there. Stuff that "experience" taught to be a really good idea.

Most mods give better or more storage space. Depend on how in depth you want to go and how handy you are and your carpentry skills.

Allot of my mods have been to make the storage areas more functional.

I second the roof vent cover suggestion and also recommend the slideout awning cover. Also take the time to walk the roof and look at all seams (walls and roof). Be sure the factory did a good job sealing your unit. Water is the enemy of a trailer.

Crawl underneath it and seal up every possible entry point that mice can get in.

Adding solar, added it to my camper and it worked great! 99.9% of my camping is dry camping so this is a must for me :-)

Get some of the critter stopper end caps for the rear bumper.
Wasps seem to like living with a sewer hose!
Preferably the ones with a tether or make your own tether so if it comes loose
it's not lost.

We have been in it with our 220 Surveyor TT for 2 years now and are appreciation our 160 watt solar system and the 25 gal tote for gray water waste along with the shoe organizer for the closet, large rug for the front entry and this site for learning more about taking our "mobile" cabin with us on adventures!

Some folks make them others buy from a camping dealer or CW.

I add a second 12 volt battery to my camper. Also bought the jack pads. Large rug for front door and built a wooden box to slip part way under bottom step for a shorten first step height. Later RJD

They dont spec what RV they have just the TV,but looking at thier Posts looks like a Rockwood? If it is it being a 2016 it should have MaxAir vents standard from the Factory! Youroo!!

LED lights in the TT and storage drawers for under the dinette benches and the small cupboard at the front door. Add a room and carpet for the awning and adjustable awning poles with tie downs.

The first thing I always do is add a second battery if it did not come with one.
Switch lights to LED if the unit did not come with one.
Add plastic hooks with adhesive inside the shower so you can hang towels, swim suits to dry.
Add cup holders the kind that hang on the wall and can fold down or up near every chair, this way drinks don't have to risk being spilled when set on the floor.
Add a second vent cover.
Get two hoses one for fresh water the second for other uses. If you get a home depot type of bucket you can roll your hoses in it and still have the bucket for other uses.
Get a water bandit, you don't need it often but when you do it is so nice
Get a water spigot key. Takes no space up and have only needed it five times in 10 years but it sure save us.
Get the dog bone conversion for electrical hookups.
There are many other things but these are things that have really been helpful for camping for us.

if you do not have an enclosed storage area for the unit, get a couple plastic lawn bags, cut them to a bit oversize, and sandwich them between the door of the water heater and the exterior panel for the fridge -- this prevents a helluva lot of stuff from being blown into those appliances while the unit is just setting

Safety should come first.

Many people immediately change the tires.
Before you do anything else, look at the tires. How does the load capacity of the tires compare against the weight of the trailer? Are you comfortable that the brand is trustworthy?

Then, buy a TPMS so if you have a leak you'll have a chance of spotting it before you have a blowout at speed.

Mine came with them and mine is a 2015 V-Lite. Later RJD

That is always going to be on my camper unless A/C is there.

Like the fence post holder for slickly.

Too much to add but like slide toppers if adjusted right. Need to do the bedroom one on mine.

Some great suggestions... I have noted:

1. Screens on all openings (the one that inspired the thread)
2. Awnings over slideouts (I have seen these and wondered about them... how are the slideouts supposed to seal normally?)
3. Battery kill switch (ours came with one of these)
4. Vent covers (agreed, fortunately 2 of 3 came with these on ours as well)
5. LED lights in general (we got this covered)
6. Progressive Industries EMS - I presume this is a surge protector?
7. Sealed covers for hot water and refrigerator vents while in storage (I am seeing red "remove before flight"...)
8. Tires
9. TPMS - this one is on my wish list once I figure out a good enough one
10. Second battery
11. Double check roof sealing

And someone asked what out TT is... well I had not been trying to make this that specific. But since you asked we have a new 2016 Rockwood 2604WS.

Thanks for the ideas. More welcome.
