Now have room for spare tire underneath
I've been wanting to move my spare from rack on back bumper to underneath trailer. BAL makes a great carrier... Hide-a-Spare that I wanted to install. FR must've felt it was easier and quicker to run the propane line straight down the center of trailer attached to bottom of cross members preventing enough room for spare. I have an exposed underbelly...that sounds weird , but anyway, using a 90 degree elbow, a 24" and 10" piece of 1/2" black pipe, my gas line is 8" away from beam on passenger side of trailer. This opened up the area where the spare tire will now recess into. I now have a 36" piece of black pipe and about 36" of roll copper that I was able to cut off from underneath when I reattached the appliances to the main line.

Mine gas line ran along the frame. Here's info on installing a BAL Hide-a-spare if anyone's interested.

I'm sure it's depends highly on your floor plan and where the gas lines need to end up.

That's what didn't make sense. 3 appliance line all come thru floor at one location, just inside the I-beam on passenger side. That's how I ended up cutting so much rolled copper off those lines. Very wasteful.

I guess I should have added "and how lazy the installers are!"

I installed the BAL Hide-a-Spare on my Wildcat 5er to carry my folding Porta-A-Bote and its worked out great. I will add that in addition to the Hide-a-Spare I also had to attach one of PortaBote's RV brackets to a mid-section trailer cross frame. If you've never seen a Porta-Bote, its a 10ft jon boat made out of Polyproplene and the hull folds into a shape that resembles a surf board. Its the hull that I haul using the HideASpare. Nose of the folded hull slides onto the HideASpare from the trailer front and the bote nose slips into the RV bracket hanging from the trailers midship cross frame. Then I raise and lock in place the HideASpare. HideASpare by itself isn't sufficient but combined with the RV nose bracket, perfect.

Nice !! I can also see this as being adaptable as a place to store a portable waste tank while on the road. Not a big fan of putting it in the truck/camper/or storage compartment.
