Ongoing mods/add-ons

First is the stick on level bubbles, finding a place that is visible and inconspicuous.

Looks like I have to move the one on its side to a parallel surface to the ground
as its not quite telling me its leveled

If it falls off, I will get the screw on ones later.

2nd Mod

Finding where to put the FRF and Frog stickers, since I have no rear window, and stickers don't quite stick to the new finished the trailer has. So I came up with a solution and here is my mod:

parts cost: 9.72 for metal strip bar, pre-punched, 7.81 for the clear smoked plate protector and package of nylon screws.

Cut to length

Finished product

Installed on Travel trailer

I will add a stick on foam backing behind the plate so its not too flimsy or causes damages to the trailer wall

Smile 3rd mod/add-on

I added these bug screens to prevent bugs and critters from going inside

This one for the furnace vent

This one is for the water heater vent

And the last one is for the refrigerator vent and a great fit too, will add more plastic ties to hold the rest of it up as it came with 6

enjoy

It's fun to do all of those mods, and then go camp. But then you will think of others that you see or hear about that you will want to do as well, it's endless. But I wouldn't trade it for the world. Nice work and happy camping!

Word of caution on the Fridge screens.
Make sure you keep them clean.

A LOT of air flows through them and if the get dirty it will restrict air flow.

Also you with screens on the bottom, you will need screens on top (to bug proof the chimney) as well.

Keeping them clean is also a chore since it involves a trip up on the roof; removing the cover; checking/washing the screen; and re-installing/caulking the cap.

Thanks for tips, the door for the fridge is easy to clean, remove it from trailer and wash it down.

As for the chimney part, I don't think I ever saw a picture of that mod on this forum or a part to use? Must have missed it

or did you mean this vent

Thanks for the pictures of the FRF sticker and license plate holder. It's easier to picture now.

Put alum screen wire on the back of the water heater vent, outside door for refrigerator and completely covered the area between the ac condensor & evaporator under the cover. Here in NC, the dirt daubers are thick and build everywhere. Discovered a dirt dauber nest on a blade on the ac fan this winter in FL when we turned the ac on. Terrible vibration. 1 hr on the roof in 90° heat convinced me not to let it happen again.

They're like that in Md too; Had to pull the furnace on the last camper due to Dobber nests........if there's a opening, they will find it.

Was talking about the one on the roof (for fridge's mounted in a wall) or above the lower vent (for fridge's mounted in a slide).

I will look for some pictures. The roof one looks like a chimney cap.

RV Refrigerator Roof Vents on Sale - PPL Motor Homes

Some have "chicken wire" screens, but will NOT stop mud wasps. To protect your fridge from the top a piece of window screen needs to be layered over the chicken wire.

The slide mounted fridge has a second "door" like vent above the lower one that everyone has.

Finally figured out where to mount my spare tire when my backpack rack is in the upright position. When its down, the tire will mount on my bumper

Also put my new bumper plugs on today with sewer hose inside the bumper.

Also installed smoke color cover over the vent. I should be already going camping as evident by number of RVs on our roads, just have wait a little longer due to my work schedule and my 10 yr. old son's school schedule. Today's high is 77. Feel sad for those back in NE where spring hasn't arrived yet. In the mean time, will work on more mods and add-ons.

Battery switch and bumper plug mod done today

Finally installed my battery disconnect switch

And another mod, this time to the existing bumper mods, this is great for those who do not wish to drill into their bumper. These two simple items is all is needed, about $5 worth, just so we don't lose the plugs during travel
