Removed the swing style door for the bathroom and made it a sliding door. Much nicer and opens up the hallway to the bedroom nicely. Repurposed original door, investment in the sliding mechanism and time to make it all happen.

Nicely done. I had purchased the hardware to convert our 3008w, but traded it in before doing the mod. I'm sure you will find the door much more convenient now. Also noticed you have your dining table on the curb side. We tried moving things around but had a problem with sofa bed setup taking too much room.
We did enjoyed ours. Thought it had the best kitchen setup!

We purchased a small couch that had a twin size bed which made things easier to move around. Our recliners are where the table used to be. Hope you enjoy your new purchase. We just purchased this last fall so this is our first camping season. Thanks for the note.

Where did you purchase the hardware to convert to the slide door?

jblane,
Great post, thanks for the pic. May look into doing that in our Surveyor. Can't open bathroom door without slider being out a bit. Hope I have the room to do the conversion!

I'm so glad to hear that you did this! I've been wanting to make the same mod to our 3008W -- ever since the night DH went running through the bathroom to get outside & shut the water off (burst pipe!) and ran SMACK into the narrow edge of that DARN SWINGING DOOR. With his face. Two black eyes and one bloody nose later, I almost had him convinced that a sliding door was the way to go. Almost.

So we just got our trailer back yesterday from 3 weeks in the shop to take care of a bunch of things. One of which was to have the dealer look at making this mod for us. DH was afraid of drilling into the wall, potentially damaging some wiring or pipes or something, so he wanted the dealer to do it. Unfortunately the dealer had a similar reaction -- it seems they were mostly worried about hanging the door securely, so it wouldn't pull out or fall down over time.

So I've got my swinging-door trailer back home now. And I've got this post from you, reminding me that it is indeed possible!!! Gee thanks.

Please let me know how you make out with this. Yay you!!

Did you reinforce the wall in any way, where you drilled into it?
