If it get's that hot then the trailer has a fair to good AC unit that I have no qualms about using.
I have lived and worked in the desert for much of my life so dry heat is a nonissue.

You don't sit six inches in front of the mister fans. Seriously, we sit it about 8-10 ft. away and the water cools the air it's moving.

No damp clothes, no watered down drinks. And with the mist fan you're not likely to have damp underarms either!

Weezer does not "suffer sweat lightly".

Uh uh...neaux way.....we brought Buffy home from the dealer today and turned on both A/Cs as soon as we unhitched and hooked up to shore power here at home. I'll be in and out of 'er tomorrow loading everything back in that we removed prior to taking it in for warranty, then running the vacuum to clean up all the "stuff" the workers tracked in. I intend to be cool and comfy while doing all that.

I hope your new unit works well for the both of you.

We put the 30 amp plug in on the back burner and went to Yellowstone for the fourth, due to an unexpected amount of time off.

I will get it done but one must have "priorities".

Back to the saltmine on Monday... (stupid priorities)

I take it Buffy came home with all 4 poles intact, not like RONN when he got his back from the dealer, sans poles & brackets. Needless to say, he is a very UNHAPPY camper.

(chuckle) As soon as we pulled on to the lot, DH headed in to the office and I made a bee line for Buffy...to make sure those precious 4 brushed aluminum poles were still on 'er.

I'd already called ahead this past week (as soon as you told me about RONN's) and talked to "Laura" the fantastic warranty service coordinator, expressing my concerns about our D&D's Self Storing Awning Poles!

According to the service dude, your poles were the topic of much discussion while Buffy was in their care. It seems the opinion of some of the 40 watt'ers was "wull why duhyuh need 'em"? UNTIL I explained the little hole in the bracket at the top, and how earth anchors and ratchet straps work in conjunction with high winds. DOH!

And for the record, I've installed earth anchors in gravel ground worse than in the picture "that other guy" posted. In fact, the first time we used your awning poles was at the COE park in TX. Ground was exactly like that picture....lots of "iron ore" rocks in the ground there.

That's the same park where we first used our "misting fan". Taking it with us for our next trip there on the 25th too!

Could you elaborate on your use of poles and tie-down straps? It sounds something like what we had on the bag awning on our old Coleman camper. That could make the automatic power awning less automatic but also allow leaving it extended with less concern about wind damage.

Is there a link to another thread on that topic?

Oh YEAH, there's a thread. LOL search for awning pole bracket kit

One of our members ( a real asset to this forum, IMO) designed and was selling the poles AND the mounting brackets for a while. Now he just fabricates and sells the mounting brackets and you furnish your poles....most use the extendable paint poles.

His user name is "Old Coot".

Here's a picture of our two sets in use (we have two awnings)

When deployed and anchored, your awning is as secure as a 4 walled room. There's a picture somewhere here of one person who purchased and installed these and he's HANGING from the awning end. (I don't recommend that...just sayin')

I will say that I tripped off a small ladder while hanging the awning lights on one of our awnings, and the only thing that saved me from a fall was the awning pole right next to me. Grabbed on and that pole DID NOT BUDGE.

I consider it the BEST mod we've done to our RV. Pure genius in that they self store up against the awning arms. Just unclip the D-ring when deploying the awning and the pole/legs swing out into place...then just adjust the height with the D-ring in the holes thru the pole, hook on the straps and anchor them down. Reverse all that when retracting the awnings and secure the pole up against the awning arm with the D-ring and you're ready to roll.

We're in Florida where it is hot and humid 362 days of the year. We bought (2) of these from Home Depot - decent deal for $89ea. Use them on our pool patio most days. We brought one camping in June and it helped cool down a lot, even with the mist off.

Identical to the one we bought at WalMart.

If you really want simple...we have a wading pool for the little ones. Put your chairs around it, and soak your feet in the cold water! That, and the oscillating shop fan will do the job! And cold beverages! Lol!
Stowed in the pickup bed before, gotta rearrange now the companion's in the way!
Mister idea is great, too!

If you are looking for a Awning solution I have seen these on rigs out west:
Amazon.com : Orbit 20066 Portable 1/4-Inch Outdoor Mist Cooling System : Garden Hose Parts : Patio, Lawn & Garden

I am just not sure HOW efficient (or smart) it would be to add MORE humidity to a already humid and hot day

For MY money I am going with Weezer's EXCELLENT tip and build me a couple of these puppies!

According to what I was told, the tech took them off to replace the awning. Service Mgr told tech to lay the poles aside and if anyone ask to tell them they were stolen or misplaced, etc. as he wanted them for his camper. Owner is getting them back after confronting owner of the dealership, tech and service mgr.

I'd say *someone* removed 'em. I knew 'bout this while Buffy was still at my dealer. Can you imagine my angst?

I called over there and had someone go check on 'em, then as I said, I made a bee line for Buffy as soon as Biff's engine was cut on arrival Saturday.

I think it was to my advantage that the dude doing most of my repairs just couldn't figure out how they'd be needed on a power awning...and he wasn't sure they were actually awning poles. Said there'd been a lot of discussion about 'em in the shop.

As stated, after I explained ratchet straps and earth anchors in conjunction with (yes those are) awning poles it was like a 1K watt bulb went off in his head and beams of light shot out his ears.
